I spent a few minutes going through an application on the Android Market called BudgetDroid. As you can probably guess, it helps you set budgets, keep track of your expense and hopefully will make you more financially responsible.
This is an application that not only will I be keeping and using, but I also plan on donating a few dollars to the developer for continued development. It has a lot of potential:
I’m not too great at keeping track of my expenses and I blame a LOT of that on my short attention span. I’ll buy gas and shove the receipt in my pocket. Go to the movies and dinner and just enjoy myself. With budgetdroid I’m able to keep track with my expenses anywhere, AS they occur, so I can’t blame my poor orgainization on my bad memory.
I had a few small complaints, one of them being that when you switch from portrait view to opening up the keyboard to type it will automatically set you back to the Expenses tab. It seems a lot of apps fall victim to this G1 detail and hopefully devs will be able to update accordingly. Its a minor annoyance in an otherwise great application.
The developer has an “about” page that says he’ll be supporting continued development. There are two main features I’d like to see added:
- Support for a more detailed weekly/monthly analysis as time goes on
- Ability to export the information in various file types for use in products like Microsoft Excel, Google Spreadsheets and financial targeted software
Being the first edition of BudgetPro, the developer did a great job and I’m excited for continued improvements. It was developed by Danielle DuBois and Jeremy Gottwig. Keep up the great work!
I will definetly be buying this application
