We saw Huawei join the OHA last week and we knew they had some big Android plans in 2009, but now the company has gone official with a statement that places the first Huawei Android phones in the 3rd Quarter of 2009
“Huawei can confirm that their first Android smartphone is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2009. Huawei’s smartphones can be ordered and developed for Australian operators based on any such requests,” the spokesperson said.
That bit about Australia shouldn’t be an indicator that the phone will only be available in Australia – the spokesperson was speaking to ZDNet.com.au – an Australian division of CNET.
As always, we’ll bring you details as they emerge.

Seems like we can look forward to lots more Android devices in 2009.
