At the moment, developers of Android Applications must know and use Java or be S.O.L. but it seems that could change thanks to some crafty developers. Using an existing tutorial on how to cross compile Python, Damon Kohler rewrote and customized the code to install Python Version 2.4.5 on his Android Powered G1.
He says it’s “rough around the edges” but what do you expect? It will be interesting to see how quickly – or if at all – cross compiled languages like this are embraced and taken to the next level on the Open Source Android OS.

There is also an Open Source Project going on that compiles Jython to Android. To everybody doing this great work, keep it up!
