Alk CoPilot GPS Software on Android/G1
A few days ago we wondered what happened to Android at CES 2009. While there wasn’t much of anything in terms of new Android based mobiles, it appears that some interesting applications flew under the radar. Today, NaviGadget reported on Alk’s CoPilot application and displayed it running on the T-Mobile G1.
Alk has their CoPilot software running on lots of phones already and we’re guessing the only thing holding them back from launching is the existence of the paid market. And remember, that should be coming any week now. We know that AndNav is out there too but only offered in Europe, unfortunately.
First of all, its pretty exciting to know that we’ll have at least one GPS navigation application on the Android market once the paid applications pop up. While Alk hasn’t confirmed this, we’re assuming it. But another question is how many other GPS options will be launched at the same time? Remember, Garmin is a member of the Open Handset Alliance and they also have an Android Based Phone on the way.
PocketNow took a look at Copilot Live and while it’s not on the T-Mobile G1 I thought you might want to see Alk’s product in action. By the way, is it me or does the driver sound like Toby from The Office?
So among Alk’s lineup of supported devices – seen in part below – you’ll soon see the T-Mobile G1. Pretty cool, eh?
