Android’s inevitable domination of the planet has taken a small pit-stop- while we were expecting/hoping Mobile World Congress to be a playground of new Android devices, one of the most highly anticipated unannounced and unleaked Android handsets will remain such. That’s right… Samsung’s Android handset is delayed and will not appear at Mobile World Congress 2009 next week.
Head of Marketing for the mobile device division, Younghee Lee told The Guardian that none of their Google-powered handsets would be appearing and the new internal timeframe is a the 2nd half of 2009. To us, internal is code for, “it could easily be delayed again and if it does, don’t blame me buddy.” Without physical hardware and still in negotiations with carriers, I suppose that is to be expected. But did they have to wait until Valentine’s Day Eve Eve to break things off? That’s just… cruel!
Many have assumed the Samsung Android will be an Omnia/Instinct morph but who really knows at this point? The delay could even be due to a re-upping of specs amdist a rapidly increasing feature set in competing hardware. To fit more stuff in a smaller frame when you’ve been working on getting things just right for months and months… I can see how it might throw things off. But hey, I’m just hypothesizing.

This sucks! :( I’ve been trying to hold out for Sprint’s Android phone, but I may just go ahead with the Iphone then. I want a fun phone already!
There loss. Unless they are just driving up some publicity.
