Kogan Agora Goes Full Touch

Mostly everyone in the Android world was disheartened when the Kogan Agora and Kogan Agora Pro were indefinitely delayed. Fortunately, Kogan is hard at work “updating” these phones to be more future-compatible with the Android OS. The guys at Gizmodo Australia had the chance to check out a prototype:

But its safe to say the prototype they saw was of the original Kogan Agora… why? Because the Kogan Agora that will hit the market will most likely be a full touchscreen device:

The final release model will almost certainly ditch the qwerty keypad for a 3.8-inch, iPhone like touchscreen which will take advantage of the cupcake update’s onscreen keypad. The phone will also definitely run Android.

While the software was a bit laggy but overall the reviewer was very impressed. Impresed enough to say:

But while he compared the prototype hardware to the BlackBerry BOld and Samsung Blackjack you have to wonder if the “hands on experience” of the market ready version will be anything like the prototype. Afterall, a full BlackBerryish keyboard is a heckuva lot different than a full touchscreen device no matter how you look at it. And even though full touchscreens are the gadgets of legends these days, I think it would have been nice to see this hardware keyboard device hit the market for the sake of Android diversity if nothing else.
