Though the season is still months out, the NFL Draft is only weeks away, and those Android users on Sprint will be able to get all the latest news straight on their phones with the new Sprint Live Football app. What is essentially a new take on the Sprint NFL Live app that went out along with Sprint and the NFL’s partnership improves on that app in many areas.
The new app features blogs from various top Football writers, player statistics and scouting reports, and up to the minute news on all your favorite teams. Also going on currently is a mock draft leading up to the fantasy football season. We can assume this will eventually lend itself to some sort of fantasy football integration.
Unfortunately for the rest of the world, Sprint Football Live will only run on a Sprint enabled handset, and won’t be compatible with any custom ROMs you may have installed. A lack of Wi-Fi is also disappointing.
A few screen shots follow. If you already have the Sprint NFL Live app on your phone, simply open it and you will be prompted to update.
Uhhh…seems to work fine on my Sprint Hero with a custom ROM.
I tried to upgrade this on my Moment, but it says it can’t be installed on my phone.
Thats a pretty cool application.
What about the Thursday and Saturday games??? Will those still be brodcasted?
im running fresh 2.1d Rom on my hero and its app works on my phone so its does work with custom Rom
I don’t understand why the original Sprint NFL app and this app don’t run over Wi-fi. This makes absolutely no sense to me. Can anyone explain?
Doesn’t every carrier try to AVOID calls / data over the cellular network if possible? The original Sprint NFL app crashes all the time because it seems to choke on the cell network. Why wouldn’t Sprint want the data to work with wi-fi which would take the load off the cell network?
I’m male, a longtime Sprint customer (7 years) and have NO use for sports! Even if I did I wouldn’t expect the whole of Sprints customer base to subsidize it for me, which is what we’re being FORCED to do by Sprint!! I resent this extremely! Football is a danged AP!! It is NOT a phone or smartphone feature! Sprint won’t even allow me to uninstall the worthless crap! I need the memory freed up, I also need my monthly bill reduced by the amount that Sprint is WASTING on this, and other CRAPWARE they are forcing us to pay for and pretend we’re happy withm it’s INFURIATING! I’ve complained to Sprint and it does NO GOOD! The other worthless, money wasting “ap type” crapware are Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV, NASCAR, and text messaging. ALL of these things are APPLICATIONS!! ALL I, or anyone else, needs is unlimited data. We can figure out the rest for ourselves. SPRINT ARE YOU READING THIS!!!

I tried to open the NFL app and it prompted to update. I installed the update and tried to open the app it kept saying that i needed to update. I gave up after 4 tries, the next day it worked. Go figure. On other posts people were saying that Sprint lost the NFL contract and that the Hero update rummored for the April 16th was just to change NFL app. So, is the update 2.1 as we all hope?
What is the gbhil?
What this article fails to mention is that Sprint NO LONGER has the rights to the NFL — Verizon now holds the contract. In other words, this app will be completely neutered when compared to its predecessor.

The company who developed the application are too scared you will packet sniff the traffic when connected to wifi.
My guess is that forcing the app to connect over the cell network meant they could keep a hacked version of the app from running on different networks or even computers, which was wise since Sprint was paying millions of dollars for the rights to have it.
What’s the possibility of starting a class action suit AGAINST SPRINT?? I have no use for NFL, NASCAR, et al.
I’m one of the nerds that came up with the circuit designs for modern day cell phones. We’d still be using Alexander G. Bell devices if we were all forced to subsidize NFL (and the rest). Anyone out there a lawyer???
Aa
No one from Sprint forces anyone to download so called useless applications on their phones. Why is everyone cutting down Sprint? All the other cell companies charge an outrageous activation fee and everyone complains. If you don’t like the service, go someone where else!!!
