By The Vodafone-ready version of the Nexus One is coming on April 30th, and though the pre-order is no more than a week old, the initial stock of N1s has already been depleted. This is in contrast to the US release of the phone, which saw plentiful units and a slow start to sales. Vodafone issued the following statement to those ordering the N1 after stock ran out:
“Thank you for placing your order, reference number [redacted]. Unfortunately we have suffered a surprisingly high demand for the Nexus One From Google, which means that it is unexpectedly out of stock. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. We hope to have further stock available within 7-10 working days and will contact you again once your order has been dispatched.”
I would imagine they had not stocked up as heavily for the UK due to the HTC Desire already being widely available and the less-than-stellar results of the American launch. Looks like Google’s handset still has some life in it after all.

Simple, they advertised it on their website!!! USA T-mobile doesn’t even hint the phone exists. People now go to the Providers websites to see what’s coming (phones), what they have (phones), and what they can offer (plans and specials). Funny how a little bit of advertisement goes a long way.
AAPL – great opportunity for a short. My Rubin is no fool, GOOGLE will kill off these jokers quite easily.HTC Desire is so hot now in the UK, the hottest phone in town. I am a Symbian guy and will wait for Nokia N8. Never had an Android device but I love the openess of Android and I hope it kicks the increasingly odious APPLE to the curb. Go Android.
I have never seen android phone so sough after like the Desire here in the UK. Its unbelievable,everyone is buying it. Am getting mine next week

T Mobile should have taken advantage in January and gotten the Nexus in its line up. They would have great results now. Prob is T Mob USA is ill guided in the Android line up it has. They always get the least expensive least desired phones. G1 being the exception. Would I buy a Mytouch… No way.. rather keep my G1 going until Oct and see whats next. If I have to pay 400 dollars for something worthwhile.. well Ill do so, but wait for T Mob USA to provide a Great phone is like expecting too much. There wireless network works great .. thats and they have the best price and dont have data caps. That makes them attractive. if they could get their act together and provied GREAT ANDROID phones and not useless phones like the HD2 or Garmin phones… they they would really take market share.

I have had my Desire since the 14th and absolutely love it to bits, I believe the only network with current stock is virgin mobile whom I have a contract with, my friends have had theirs on order over 2 weeks with other networks, there all so envious ;)
I guess a major part in the shortage of phones will be due to European wide grounding of flights due to the volcano in Iceland (that nobody can pronounce- sending its ash cloud down the continent.

Well for one, the initial carrier, T-Mobile, STILL has a waiting list for it if ordering online or over the phone. Stock in stores is slim too. It was released nearly a month ago.
Google sold it direct so the phone companies whined about that and didn’t really push the phone to their customers. The phone companies are still used to getting their way.
