By South Korea’s KT – one of the top mobile carriers in the country – will be offering the Google Nexus One later this month for their customers, says Reuters. No pricing was discussed, yet, and we’re not sure if the phone will be offered through contract deals or if KT customers will need to pay for the phone outright. We hope to get more details soon from either Google or KT near the phone’s launch date.

I live in SK and I can tell you what will happen: it will come to SK nationals, but foreigners will have to buy it outright from a third party vendor for a lot of extra dosh. Foreigners are not allowed to choose from any phone here and smartphones are right out of the picture. Unless things change, even great phones like the Nexus One and iPhone will remain party to nationals only.
Foreigners have been buying iPhone’s and HTC phones now for 6 months (November 2009 was the first time smartphones were allowed into the country), but under a Korean friend’s name.
I’d love to go in and get one, but… shame, it won’t work. Sad too since a lot of English sites are stoked about Korean handset news but not a single English-speaking soul is affected. This is a very closed country.
