After Samsung wrapped up their trifecta of Samsung Galaxy S phone announcements, the T-Mobile version (the Samsung Vibrant) just got even more official with a formal press release, an official site, and pricing/availability details. You can grab this device on July 21st for $199.99 on a two-year contract. Radio Shack will be the first to start offering the device for pre-order which will happen starting on July 1st.
T-Mobile’s version of the device ditches the front-facing camera and changes the configuration of the capacitive buttons, but it’s still just as much of a Galaxy S smartphone as its parent. The biggest differentiating factor for their version seems to be the inclusion of 16GB of internal storage, as opposed to the 1GB and 2GB seen in Sprint’s Samsung Epic 4G and Verizon’s Samsung Fascinate, respectively.
With that, you also get an expandable microSD card slot up to 32GB, which gives Vibrant owners a maximum of 48GB of storage. If you want to be notified when Samsung and T-Mobile have more announcements to offer, be sure to head over to their official Samsung Vibrant site now.

this sounds like a great phone that we tmobil users have been waiting for. unfortunitly for me i need a physical keybord. i cant stand virtual ones. and why ditch the ffc? with many smartphones including this tmobile is dropping the ball AGAIN. im still stuck waiting for a phone with these specs and a physical keyboard and a ffc beacuse i love android and want to take advantage of every feature they put out.
I too prefer a real keyboard, raw android with no UI skin, and more rugged build. and if there is a dual processor device coming to TMO, then I’m not locking into this Samsung.
Hey, does anyone know how much this will cost without an upgrade?
Also can you preorder this even if you don’t have an upgrade?
Thanks.
@jasonv- Have you tried Swype? I honestly thought I needed a physical keyboard until I used it. Now, I don’t even think about it.
Coming to TMO later this year? http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/05/21/htc-vision-rumored-to-be-a-desire-with-qwerty-keypad/
If this is coming, I’m happy to wait and enjoy my N1.
and then there is this- http://theunlockr.com/2010/06/25/rumor-htc-vision-dual-core-processor-android-device/
or perhaps this will make you think twice about a sammy phone- http://www.phonedog.com/2010/06/25/rumor-t-mobile-s-project-emerald-is-dual-core-htc-vision/
I guess we’ll see. TMo needs to get their smart phone act in gear.
Then there is this- http://androidandme.com/2010/06/news/qualcomm-ships-first-dual-cpu-snapdragon-to-htc/
If this is coming to TMo, I think I’ll go for it. Love the build (yes it’s a mockup) and the desire is my favorite touchscreen build currently out now. So sorry Sammy.
I won’t BASH tmobile today.is the dlna still intact?
I really like this phone but it has a couple of drawbacks. 1. They didn’t give the camera a flash. 2. They took off the front facing camera. I would love to have both those features. It looks like I won’t replace my N1 anytime soon.
I got my Moment because of the physical keyboard, gotta have that!
How refreshing. He’s not going to bash TMO. Today.
It is important to note that Eric Schmidt, called Droid X the best smartphone on the best network. I agree with him. HTC and Samsung have to prove their credentials by updating the phones faster. HTC took a long time to update HTC Hero.
Dear Tmobile…do u remember when u were called Voicestream…I was there…
do u remember when u were ranked the 4th US carrier…I was there…
do u remember when u were the last big carrier to not have 3G…i was there…
do u remember the 1st day u released the G1…I was there…
do u remember when SPRINT released the Samsung Epic…hasn’t happened yet but I WILL BE THERE…
damn u Tmobile!!!!!
WHY WHY WHY?!?! Why are they “ditching” the front facing camera. That was my favorite feature. might as well get the Slide now.
Hasta la bye bye. Change is good. Enjoy Sprint.
If this had a FFC, LED flash, and stock android 2.2, it would be a killer phone. How any super smartphone comes without a flash these days is just mind-boggling. It’s almost like they’re trying to fall behind the competition.
The N1 remains the best available Android phone on this carrier.
tmo will get the most generic version of this phone
Samsungs are the worst phones period. I mean if you use the phone for actual phone calls…terrible reception. More static than an early 90s cellular.
Im just hoping the DLNA feature is still there.Id the hdmi support.does anyone know if this feature(dlna) was removed also?
how can you bash t-mobile if they are getting the HTC vision?
Does the Vibrant include the same 6-axis accelerometer, also called a gyroscope?
Looks really good. Would gladly trade the 16GB storage for FFC. Not quite sure about trading the physical keyboard for a slimmer, lighter version, but this may be a reasonable trade.
That Vision rumor is just that,a rumor. When it comes fruition and is available then I will stop with the BaSHING. Today I’m taking a break.answer me this?why is that a smaller company like US cellular is getting a better version than the 4th largest mobile provider in the country?I can say the MOTOROLA Titan with a 4 core is coming out with tres leches(that’s spanish for …I’m not teaching spanish)=android 3.0.then you tmobile fanboys would go crazy till then simmer down with the HTC Vision crap. How does tmobile keep an idiot in suspense(tell them we have a HTC Vision coming out in 5 months)?
*quad core
RxR I was there all those times too, but T-mobile has been good to me, (best customer service). Who else adjust your bill to the cheaper deal while your still under contract. (Ex. I use to pay 49.99 for 1200 min +free nights + weekends, plus 9.99 for mobile to mobile. They automatically changed my plan to unlimited minutes for 39.99 and removed m2m) Not to mention I get to upgrade every year because my bill is over 89 bucks, beat that. It will cost you an extra 10 bucks a month just for having a superphone on sprint. Good luck with that.
That said FFC not that important to me now, Led flash not necessary (they suck anyway) If you are whiny about not having a physical keyboard, then you have never used a virtual one on one of these super phones with big screens. The onscreen on the hd2 and Evo are amazing in comparison to sub 1ghz, sub 4inch devices.
What I’m more upset about is that it looks like an iphone, and the absent dpad, optical touchpad or even trackball. I thought this was suppose to be the first real android gaming phone? And even though every blog says its comming with the 16gb internal memory, I haven’t seen anything official that says that, its never mentioned in any press release.
It is a with google device which means that there is vanilla android in it somewhere, you might just have to disable the touch wiz launcher. Even if your only option is touch wiz stock, just download adw in the market.
Thought he said he wasn’t bashing? What, is it just bashing lite?
im not bashing. im just stating facts. check this out.
