When you walk into the AT&T store this Sunday to grab your new Samsung Captivate (that’s if you haven’t already been able to do it), you’ll find the norm: a cardboard box, a phone inside, some manuals, unneeded plastic, and the accessories to accompany your shiny new device. If you’re a suit-wearing AT&T higher-up, however, you’ll get one of the most epically-crafted boxes since the introduction of the Ulysse Nardin Chairman‘s.
Being a part of that “good ol’ boys” club gets you a high quality case with a glass cover to see the contents inside without having to open it. Directly underneath that glass (with a gold-plated hinge playing host to the box’s opening and closing mechanism) lies the phone and a shimmering piece of glass with the Captivate and Galaxy S logos on it. Going even further reveals some accessories that you can’t even buy if you wanted to.
Pretty cool stuff. I’ve always been one to hold onto my boxes for expensive technology (you never know when you’ll need it) and this is one box I’d proudly keep around my living or working quarters as it reminds me that I’m making way more money than I should be.
