Acer Stream to Launch on August 9th Instead, Still £399

Retailer Expansys was the first to announce the Acer Stream’s availability where they pegged its landing date as August 3rd. Their page now says August 7th, but Acer’s officially announced it with a press release of their own stating that August 9th is the date to look forward to for anyone excited about the device.

Expansys is still the exclusive retailer, as well, and will offer the device for £399. The Acer Stream is a device you may want to look at twice. Living up to its very fitting name, Acer’s aiming this for those who love streaming media (including video and audio). It’s coming with a 3.7-inch WVGA touch-screen display, 720p HD video recording, music on the go courtesy of RDS, an HDMI-out port for watching all of your video content on an HDTV, and a 5MP camera.

Some of the “under-the-hood” specs include a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, Android 2.1 with Acer’s custom interface, WiFi (up to N), Bluetooth, and more. The device has 2GB of internal storage and will be bundled with an 8GB microSD card (expandable to 32GB). It quite possibly marks the first Android device we’ve seen in this size with an HDMI port, and it’s more than capable enough to stand up next to other high-end devices in the same tier.
