HTC Desire HD Listed by Amazon for October 1st, 415 British Pounds

24

Today, Amazon UK jumped the gun a bit and listed the HTC Desire HD/HTC Ace for 415 British pounds and an availability date of October 1st. Nothing else was mentioned about the device – including any specs or an image – but an October 1st launch date matches up quite nicely with that September 15th announcement we expect to go down in London. The listing has since been removed.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. so is this european version of HTC EVO ?

  2. Do want.

  3. @ Ben, yeah pretty much, but there are rumors that they’re using the new 45nm CPUs running at 1.3Ghz with the new GPUs which are way faster than the current ones!

  4. Speed is not as important if they don’t have the battery to back it up.

  5. @ swehes, well if rumors are correct, these will have 45nm CPUs which greatly improve battery life compared to current 65nm CPUs which arent so energy efficient,

  6. And who mentioned anything about the battery?

  7. display resolution ?

  8. if it’s 1.3GHz i know what i’m buying myself for christmas ;)

  9. probably 800×480

  10. Pricey, but more than likely would come on contract on this evidence I’d have thought. Winsauce.

  11. @ G8D, post 4?

  12. The special thing about this one may be that its coming state side with Tmobile. First dual core processor.

Also, a first 4.1+ inch screen cellphone with T-mobile.

  13. T-Mobile? NUTS! I’ve got AT&T and would rather stick with it, just so I can use 3G via the same phone when traveling to Europe/Asia.

  14. @Slick. T-mo came out with the first 4.3 inch touch screen phone in the USA. The HTC HD2. I use it everyday and its a wonderful device, which now gives me the option to dual boot (Windows Mobile and Android). I agree Android isn’t native to this device but there are just 2 more issues (Battery Life, TouchScreen response) to be sorted out before I will start using it as my full time OS instead of Windows Mobile.

  15. Let’s hope they will release their new Android phone with the keyboard too at same time (HTC Vision). Then i will downgrade my bloody Moto Milestone to remote for XBMC, because as phone it’s useless.

  16. @beaver: if it’s true, it’s very fast.

  17. I really want to know about the battery, my N1 if used frequently on the weekend wont last all day.

  18. WHY WHY DOES UK ALWAYS GETS THE GOODIES FIRST?!?!

  19. simple in UK people have the habit of buying unlocked phones so you can release it to third party retailers who are more than willing to sell android phones. Reason no.2 all

  20. why would it be called HD if screen resolution is the same as the one in the original Desire? a bigger screen with same number of pixels is lower D, as far as I know.

  21. @JJFNIGHTS80 (Post 18) I live in the UK and we have the same issue, you guys get a lot more than we do. Droid, Droid Incredible, Droid X, Droid 2, Evo 4G, Epic 4G, xbox 360 slim! It’s our turn to have nice stuff first :p

Funnily enough, my contract is up for renewal in November.

  22. Seeing as there’s a London launch event for this phone, it’s almost certainly going to be AT&T 3G compatible. UK networks use the same bands at ATT, not TMo.

  23. I alway’s new that T-mobile would deliver and the last Quarter of 2010 will have all of the other networks clients hating on our next generation Android devices
T-Mobile started all of this and will alway’s be number 1.

  24. Do you guys know something about the release date of the HTC Desire HD in Germany? Is it the 1st of october as well?
