Samsung Mobile Announces Samsung Galaxy Tab with Multiple Carriers
September 16, 2010Samsung Mobile today announced the upcoming availability of the Galaxy Tab™ in the U.S with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless. The first mobile tablet from Samsung shares many of the powerful characteristics of the Galaxy S smart phone lineup that launched this summer. The Galaxy Tab is designed with several enhancements to create a unique mobile experience that other products can’t deliver.
The Galaxy Tab features a brilliant 7-inch enhanced TFT display screen, 1GHz Hummingbird Application processor supporting 3D graphics and smooth Web browsing and front and rear-facing cameras for video chat while on-the-go. The Galaxy Tab is powered by Android 2.2™, including full support for Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1. Just like the Galaxy S smart phones, the Galaxy Tab includes Samsung’s Social Hub application and the new Media Hub content service, offering a robust collection of premium movies and TV episodes from some of the biggest entertainment companies.
That’s pretty darn impressive and follows up with the Galaxy S phones launching on all 4 carriers. This is not an easy feat to accomplish. Not on 1 carrier let alone 4. Big props to Samsung and keep your eyes glued to Phandroid for in-depth details!
I knew they were serious about their Galaxy S brand but, this is just impressive!!!! Being a senior in high school, there is no way I can afford a Tab on top of my Vibrant but, maybe someday…
The only real question now is when can I get mine?!?!

The screen resolution is 1024×600, not 800×480.
The next big mystery is pricing with and without contract.
thats pretty impressive! i hope Sprint keeps the same truly unlimited data plan as they did for the Evo because i just checked my usage and i used about 6GB of data this month and Netflix isnt even out yet.. if i get one of these, i may be able to switch back to a basic phone because that battery life is really looking appealing. Good job Samsung!
im disappointed. I think this will be a bigger deal breaker than it will be accomplishment for samsung. If they rumored price of 799 is correct, this thing will fail hard. I cant imagine people getting sucked into another contract or having to pay that kind of money for this product, especially those of us with the bigger phones. that screen is 2.7 inches bigger than my evos, which is not nearly worth another contract item.
@curt it’s actually 1024×600 on a 7 inch screen.
In comparison, most netbooks have 1024×600 on a 10 inch screen. The ipad is 1024×768 on a 9.7 inch screen, a little denser than an average netbook.
Nope. No way would I buy one. Hate the phone, so the damn pad isnt going to be any better.
@Narynan I would not buy at Samsung phone but this…this is looking cooler and cooler as time goes on. I think they got the tab thing down well…but that is yet to be seen
Could we see a buy one get one free deal? Part of me doesn’t think so but with the Galaxy S on all four carriers, it happened with the phones. The way the market is so competitive, deals that sweet don’t surprise me like they used to.
