The Samsung Galaxy S has yet to hit the land of the rising sun in any fashion since its debut, but that may be changing as we’ve learned NTT DoCoMo will be testing an Android-based eReader service using the Samsung Galaxy S and the Xperia X10 in late October. This is far form concrete confirmation, but we can’t imagine they’d be testing a service on a device that they have no intention of supplying and supporting. If we learn more, we’ll swing the details right on over to you. [Samsung Hub]
Whoa! A Touchpad on a Galaxy S! Does this thing have a FFC???!?!?!?!?!
I’m sure it’s changed now but back in 2004 the only phones I found in Japan are almost 99% all flip opens. And they made this weird ass clicking noise everytime you open it. I was like, REALLY? in JAPAN?
Docomo announced a Galaxy S “based” phone back in June, for an Autumn release. They haven’t given much info since then, but rumour has it that the release date will finally be announced at CEATEC on Oct 5th, and it will go on sale by the end of the month.
Hopefully then I will finally be able to join the Android community.
smc29, shellcase phones are popular in Japan. Phones that don’t open are seen as cheap and tiny, hard to use, and that makes sense, since the keyboard is significantly smaller. I’m not a big fan personally though.
Homo Habilis, the Galaxy S would be their 3rd Android phone, after the HTC Hero and the Sony Experia X10…
Anyway, this phone has potential. I’ll be looking into it.
I know they had the HTC Magic, since I own one, but I didn’t think they had the Hero. Waiting on the Galaxy S now….
