Bing Now Available for All Phones

24

[Update]: It appears this is only available in the United States, as of the time of this writing. If you’re not in the United States, then it’s likely you won’t find this app unless there’s been a mistake.

Not on Verizon but craving a nice helping of Bing? You’re in luck because it seems the period of exclusivity struck up between Microsoft and Verizon has ended and Bing is now on the marketplace for all to download. We know a lot of you aren’t fans of Bing. We get that. But competition is healthy, and who’s to say Microsoft can’t have their own spot in the Android market? Google’s present on nearly every competitors’ OS.

And before you say “they’re not direct competitors because they don’t do search,” Google has a very strong presence on Windows Phone 7. Don’t be ashamed to give Bing a spin on your Google Android device. I did, and I at least came to the conclusion that I won’t be using it unless it allows me to open websites up in the browser of my choice! Find it in the Android market now by searching “Bing”.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Blecch.

I’d sooner have no search at all.

  2. Craving for bing? Are you serious the reason why you said that is because they are paying you to have there gay ads.

  3. Good. It should be on the Market, where the vast majority of people will ignore it.

  4. Hahahahaha, disregard that, I suck cocks.

  5. We have no direct association with Microsoft. I don’t even see the Bing ads on my end. And I stated that I won’t be using it myself. And why is it asinine to suggest someone likes Bing? There are people out there who like Bing, you know.

  6. Yeah, sounds like their MO. Even though I am a die-hard Google fan, I have found a totally great use for Bing at work: Bing Maps is the only map provider I’ve found that knows where a BUNCH of addresses around Lake Ozark, Missouri are located, which is indespensible at times, so an Android app is totally welcome on my phone… just as long as that bastard clocks in at under 1mb.

  7. Well said Quentyn. Youre just opening our eyes to the possibilities. I’m going to try it, i dont hold high expectations, but its nice to know about what other people have done with Android, especially a company as large as Microsoft.

  8. @Quentyn How do you not see the bing ads? They’re below EVERY post and they’re GIGANTIC 400x300px ads

  9. Looks like this is for US only, can’t find it in my market in the UK

  10. @Josh, the ads are different depending on where yo live i think. i mainly get iphone cases ads and shoe ads. no problem

  11. He doesnt see them because he is on the back end of the website…Jeez… You think he just goes to ydfgg.com right clicks and starts typing lol

  12. But on a side note…I am sure he has seen the Bing ads lol

  13. @Moe: Exactly. I get A1 ads which only exists in Austria.

  14. It’s about time they got rid of bing

  15. WHY don’t you guys mention that it is US-only???!!! Not just you, but every single tech website simply assumes that US is the be-all and end-all for everything. Gosh!

  16. Can’t find it on the market, UK Galaxy S.

  17. @Jiggy it’s impossible for us to know it’s US only without Microsoft telling us. (You know, because we can’t emulate a UK market on our US phones.) Thanks for the heads up, though. Post updated.

  18. Thanks Quentyn. I realized after I had written that you must all be based in the US. But there are other sites out there who have ppl all over and still make these mistakes.

  19. Android already had the best search engine in the business, I don’t know why anyone in their right mind would integrate Microsoft crapware on a Linux phone.

  20. Not on my phone ever !!!!!!!!!

  21. Sweet! all we need now is Internet Explorer for Android! (I keed, I keed… please don’t kill me…)

  22. People need to get over this ridiculous Microsoft bashing already. Go try some of the services, e.g. IE9 beta, Bing, etc. and try not to let your moronic views get n the way. Microsoft has been doing a great job of providing quality products in recent years (namely Windows 7 and forward.)

How about you start forming opinions of your own for once?

(This is coming from a person who primarily runs Linux, and loves the crap out of Android.)

  23. Is there a new software update because i had Bing on my android 2.2 a month ago and it was terrible. I had to delete it
