Pantech P8000 Shows Up with Android, Could Head to AT&T

A little phone from Pantech has just popped up via the FCC and Bluetooth SIG. It runs Android, a new move for the handset maker but not a surprising one at all, especially considering waning relevancy in the US mobile phone market after falling behind fellow Korean manufacturers Samsung and LG. It could go by the codename “Moon” and definitely carries 850 and 1900 MHz cellular bands, meaning it is most likely headed to AT&T as a budget-friendly device not too far out of Pantech’s comfort zone. That’s all well and good for Pantech, but not so much AT&T, a company that has yet to really step up their Android game to the next level.

  1. Pantech has already released an Android handset on the Japanese market so this model is hardly a “first” for them.

  2. Pantech makes the world ugliest phone. I would never buy another Pantech as long I’m on AT&T. AT&T needs to step up to the plate and get some more 1GHZ 4″ Android device.
