KT out in South Korea has outed the Dell Venue – an Android version of the Windows-running Venue Pro. When rumors first began to swirl about the device, we’d heard it’d be getting a full-portrait QWERTY keyboard to somewhat match its older brother, but that seems to have been ditched. Instead, expect a 4.1-inch AMOLED display and Android 2.2. We’ve seen this thing in the FCC with T-Mobile’s frequencies before, but be mindful of the fact that T-Mobile shares some of the same bands as a few carriers throughout Europe. Let’s hope Dell announces the Venue for a worldwide launch soon. [KT via Gizmodo]
I do like the design, but honestly outside of that what reason is there to go for this thing? With devices like Nexus S & MyTouch 4G’s (desire HD) trumping it in many ways..
If this thing were dual core or at least had a vertical slider to stand out then we’d be talking.. unfortunately we’re not :(
I really like the Dell Stage launcher of the Venue. I’ve had it on my N1 for about month but its too laggy compared to my oh-so-buttery-smooth LauncherPRO Plus.
i thought the main thing that made the dell venue worth mentioning was the keyboard. why’d they remove it anyway? the lack of keyboards on high end phones make me cry.
“be mindful of the fact that T-Mobile shares some of the same bands as a few carriers throughout Europe.”
Incorrect. T-Mobile uses the AWS band which is 1700 upstream and 2100 downstream. The deployment of this band is mutually exclusive with the European 2100 band, which is 1900 upstream and 2100 downstream.
well since it has no keyboard wouldnt that make it the dell thunder that is in your rumored phone section the also lookm like
Just what the world needs another candybar with outdated os! It’s not like dell is actually gonna put 2.3 on there even though they have plenty of time to before it ships. No, no, they will waste their time on some stupid ass UI that is sooo much better than what google came up with – thats what people want. Yay!
@Charles, Are you sure they use the 1900MHz band in Europe? I always thought it was 900/2100. As in, a phone with 900/1700/2100 would probably get 3G in Europe (a la Nexus S)
I’m Sorry but i wouldn’t recommend anyone buying this phone. I have an HD7 and was curious about the Dell Venue Pro for WP7 and honestly, Dell has a lot of bad publicitiy with the way they are handling there Dell Venue Pro Launch due to hardware issues and what not….
