We’re not sure how this rumor slipped by our eagle eyes, but LG is said to be announcing a mass market phone at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month with Near Field Communication capabilities. The phone is said to come in at ~$200, but no other details were given. The rumors are based on reports from not one, but two Korean outlets: PlusNews and EtNews.
According to them, the phone would be named the LG Pecan – unfortunate considering I hate pecans. But whatever it ends up being, we can’t imagine they’d skimp on features and performance considering its price tag. It’s possible it could even be a US version of the LG Optimus 2X with added “oomph”. We should know by the time February 14th rolls around if any of this is true or not. [via NFC World]
