Another Android-based Hardline Phone + Detachable Tablet

5

Remember that Cisco Cius phone that doubled as an Android tablet for the business professional? Well this little guy out of Japan – called the Nakayo – doesn’t look nearly as cool, but it’s built on the same idea – your hardline phone (home or office) is Android-enabled, and the touchscreen doubles as a detachable tablet.

What’s especially cool about this thing is that you’ll be able to continue any phone call you’re on with the tablet, so being tethered to your desk isn’t a problem. It’s SIP based, though, so don’t run out and grab this one up if your employer doesn’t allow SIP-based solutions at the office.

Other neat functions include video calling enabled by a front-facing camera and the ability to browse the web over Wi-Fi. Memory is expandable to 32GB via a MicroSD card slot so we imagine a media player of some sort is included. Look out for this one to drop in July. [via CrunchGear]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Enterprise target? Looks like it came from the 1950’s though.

  2. 1950’s? Maybe a good visionary late 60’s sci-fi like 2001 A Space Odyssey.

  3. I would think a portable landline phone would suffice and it’s smaller. Just imagine walking around the office with a tablet to your ear? O.o And most people would use a cordless headphones if they have to talk in a long conference call. Maybe they should have made it smaller and portable…like a cell phone ;) lol

  4. @Roze it most likely will have bluetooth as well, so an ear piece to talk while working on a tablet sized screen is not a problem.

  5. I was thinking the same as 1 and 2
