39% of people use their smartphones while going to bathroom. Does this sound like you? Everyone and their mom is using some kind of smartphone these days. According to Google there is a smartphone mobile movement taking place and they want you to help them, help you. Hows that? Advertising.
Its no secret that Google has always been an ad based company. Its how they achieved their multi billion dollar status. Today they released a video showing off some stats and what you can do about them.
Some other of the more notable stats I found interesting were:
- Nine out of ten smartphone searches results in an action (purchasing, visiting a business, etc.)
- 95% of smartphone users have looked for local information
- 88% of these users take action within a day, indicating these are immediate information needs
- 77% have contacted a business, with 61% calling and 59% visiting the local business
I couldn’t go a day without my Android powered smartphone. Aside from texting or using my phone as a social hub, I’ve found that I use it for shopping more than anything. When I go out, I snap pics of possible new outfits, compare prices, make shopping lists, etc. Now we’re seeing all these big companies getting into the “group discount” craze and its just another way you can use your phone to become a more educated shopper.
If you would like to see some more stats and learn more about this Mobile Movement, head on over to Google’s Mobile Ads Blog and educate yourself.

OMG don’t stick your phone in there.
No home wifi or radio signal in my bathroom. I do know there are some people who talk on phone while taking a dump though.
“Hello? Ah how are hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnyou? I’m fi*splash*ne!”
GAHAHAHAHAH! =D
This is why I use the mute button lol
“Always on. Always with us. Always connected.”
Haunting words… I honestly feel a bit creeped out after watching that video. The next step for them should be serving relevant ads based on company credibility, not just products. I’m always skeptical about brands that don’t seem remotely familiar so wouldn’t it be helpful to people if we had some way of knowing we could trust the companies who are advertising things to us?
Lastly, it’s funny that Google would put an iPhone in their video.
“Lastly, it’s funny that Google would put an iPhone in their video.” Not really.
Google put the iPhone in the video because they’re not petty whine asses who are “at war” with Apple. Also iPhones use plenty of Google services.
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Courtesy laugh.
A perfect time to play angry Birds is on the throne.
