Is this just the same device we heard about headed to Europe or will Canadian, T-Mobile and AT&T folks be able to get in on some 3D love before too long? A device modeled PG86300, which just happens to be the same model number as the HTC EVO 3D, has passed the FCC. It has GSM bands, but before you North American customers get excited, remember that HTC has just announced a European version of the device set to launch in July. Nevertheless, it looks like those of you on GSM carriers here in the states and up in Canada will soon be able to at least import the device and use it on your networks of choice. Well it looks like it only has AWS for 3G so it will only work on T-Mobile USA and Wind in Canada.
Whats the transfer rate though?
Uh isn’t the FCC only for North America?
ya…canada is in north america, genius
No shit, stop trying to be a smartass. The article implies that this might be the European version which doesn’t make sense.
sure
Hahaha. He says sure after hes proven wrong and looks like a doyle. Yes this wouldnt be going through the USA FCC if it was a European phone, DUH!
a doyle? nice one dipshit
Canada has its own telecom regulator. But, we have entered into various treaties that permit the FCC to do testing and set certain standards for devices that are created for member countries, and not necessarily just the US.
Can’t you read? It says with T-mobile bands. Who cares about gsm only…
What’s the point of having it pass through FCC again when it’s available already on Sprint? Besides AT&T won’t even pick this one up since the LG Thrill is coming out kinda dumb if you ask me. and it’s also coming to Europe
It uses a different radio on Sprint. It also uses different bands in Europe. Any time any device uses spectrum in any country that is a member of one of the treaties authorizing the FCC to regulate wireless device licensing, it goes through the FCC for approval–even if we never see it go on sale or get marketed in the US.
This is one of the dumbest articles I’ve read in a while. Firstly, of course it’s for the North American market – it’s licensed for AWS which isn’t used in Europe and it’s, erm, been submitted to the FCC. Secondly, it hasn’t been licensed by the FCC to operate on the UMTS 850Mhz spectrum so this particular model is not coming to AT&T. It’s either for T-mobile or one of the Canadian AWS carriers.
