Beefed Up Motorola Defy Could Find its Way to AT&T

The rugged Motorola Defy is getting an upgrade, but it looks like it won’t be returning to T-Mobile flashing its new internals. The 800Mhz TI OMAP 3610 CPU is said to be swapped for a 1GHz OMAP 3621 in the new model, known as the Defy+. Other than the processor switch, specs remain relatively the same across the board save for one noticeable difference: the radio. The Defy+ gains support for 850/1900/2100 HSPA, bands that make the device well suited for deployment on AT&T.

Of course, AT&T currently offers the Bravo, a device that largely fits into the same realm as the original Defy (minus its ability to withstand water, dirt, and shock). The Defy+ would be a slight upgrade in that territory. There is no confirmation that this will indeed end up on AT&T, either. It could very well be destined for one of Canada’s carriers with the same radio bands. When it does hit shelves it probably won’t turn many heads, but for those who put a punishment on their phones the Defy+ might just be the perfect fit.
