HTC Providing T-Mobile Stores With SD Cards To Update Handsets

13

This is different. TMo News came across this internal memo from T-Mobile informing stores that they will begin receiving SD cards from HTC for use when updating customers’ devices. Apparently, some customers will receive a text message to come into a T-Mobile location where a sales rep will update their device to the latest software and/or Android firmware. The only 3 devices in question seem to be the Mytouch 3G Slide, Mytouch 4G and the G2. I guess this new program is for those who are so tech illiterate, pushing “Yes” to an over-the-air update may be too complicated for them (or simply neglected to update their device). Hey, I can’t even change my car oil so I ain’t mad at’cha.

  1. bro really? im sure you can change your own oil LOL. quit being lazy fucker :)

but yea im all for this.it makes sense from a business standpoint. think about all the grandmas and whatnot that got a phone as a gift and dont understand how these new fangled screen touch things are phones. they wanna be able to make it as dumbass proof as humanly possible.

    1. Is the oil somewhere in the back of the car? o_O

      1. Yep chris, in a can in the boot ( trunk), pour it into the engine you numpty!

      2. Yeah umm… I don’t think any of those phones received an OTA update. I have a MyTouch Slide and not only did you have to go to HTC website to download the update you had have a Windows OS to use the update software which was a challenge since I use a Mac. If don’t regularly read Android blogs you would never know that there was a update for your phone. I don’t understand why HTC and/or T-Mo made it that difficult.

      3. Only if you have a dry sump system.

  2. Doing an OTA update is pretty hard to do if one was never sent out. So I’m sure there are plenty of mt3g slide owners out there that didn’t even know an update was available.

    1. You’re 110% correct ,my father has a mt3gslide, and would’ve never known the 2.2.2 update was available If it wasn’t for me. I happened to be reading my RSS reader on an android website and saw it was available through the htc website. Lol what happened to OTAs ? I think he could’ve handled that though lol he’s not the most tech savvy ,but atleast he’s using an android :)
