Earlier today we learned the the LG Gelato Q would launch on Verizon as the LG Enlighten, and thanks to some new information picked up by DroidLife we are being enlightened (I know, I know) on what to expect when the phone launches on Verizon, supposedly around August 25th. The handset will fill the void left by the LG Ally, a similar handset in terms of specs. The Enlighten features a slide-out keyboard, 800MHz processor, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Similarly to the Ally, we don’t expect this one to steal the hearts of the public upon release.

My wife loved the ally she’s not a tecky or power user. The ally died and I got her a droid pro she hates. This should fit her fine even if I have to pay full price.
So a phone coming out in August that wasn’t on the roadmap? So maybe the GS2 could still be out in August? Please Jebus!

Why is it that almost all keyboarded phones on Verizon have to have crap specs, or else be locked-down Motorola pieces with mediocre keyboards?
Isn’t that the case with EVERY keyboarded phone, regardless of carrier? Manufacturers make me depressed.
Still rocking my LG GW620, waiting for a phone that doesn’t suck, with a keyboard that doesn’t suck.
What’s the screen size?
I’m comparing it to my phone, the LG GW620, and assuming that both phones have the same physical dimensions (which appears to be the case), the screen should be 3.2 inch.

warning that the screen is NOT Ally-density this screen is 3.2″ at 320×480, not 3.2″ at 480×800
So …
* same great-typing-keyboard as the Ally
* slightly faster processor (800 vs 600 Ally)
but much worse screen (downgraded to 320×480)
and no better internal-storage (150 is too small to install things unless you root it and use link2SD like I did on my Ally)
Look instead at the Samsung keyboarded droid coming to Verizon in the next few weeks
