We’ve seen some pretty small Androids, but they’re just big enough to be considered phones and to be considered usable. Apparently, the industry hasn’t gone small enough. Wimm Labs took it upon themselves to squeeze Android onto a device so small you could wear it as a watch. It has a 1.4 inch display, a 667MHz processor, a microSD card slot that holds up to 32GB of storage and an accelerometer.
There’s obviously an issue with a device this small – market applications would be very hard to use on it. Instead, the company is relying on “micro apps”, a term for the platform that’ll allow developers to create applications adapted for the tiny screen and tap into the device’s internal hardware to provide extended functionality. At the start, you can count on the usuals such as a world clock, a calendar, weater, SMS preview, and more.
I’m not too keen on watches period, but I certainly wouldn’t mind having a functional Android phone sitting on my wrist. Wimm Labs eventually wants to use Android as a basis for their own smartphone platform, though they didn’t indicate whether or not that OS would be contained within the “tiny” realm of devices like the one detailed here. Typing an SMS would take forever. Would you actually hold your “watch” up to your head to make a call? That’d look kinda goofy, I would imagine :)
idk about ‘phone’… i guess it would be cool to have your bluetooth connected to your watch.. overall i text waaayyyy too fast to be using that small of a screen xD
Wimm has been up to quite a bit lately. I’m excited to see what the future holds for Wimm and micro-androids.

These AREN’T phones. Check the specs, wifi/bluetooth. They are a companion device, not a phone in itself. I’m pretty dubious of the battery life of one of these, but they admittedly look pretty cool. If they come out soon it might be a tough competition between it and the MetaWatch, which at this point I’m getting.

If something like this also functioned as a phone you would look like a show when you were taking on the phone. Lol Imagine someone on public talking to their watch. I thought people walking around with Bluetooth headsets looked funny enough walking around talking to themselves…

if it shows my time, weather, calendar notifications and sms/whatsapp/google talk previews….then I think it has all that I (currently) need of a wrist device
this article could use some clarification. 1) it’s not a phone. i know the article never specifically said it was a phone, but it also never did anything to stop people from assuming it was and apparently more have than haven’t. 2) it’s also a fitness device. (GPS, heart rate monitor, etc) and much more.
