Samsung has asked folks to circle “October 11th” on their calendars for another Unpacked event. If you haven’t been keeping up with the times, that coincides with the day CTIA kicks off in San Diego. The last time they held an Unpacked event, three US variants of their flagship Galaxy S II smartphone were unveiled.
As always, we can’t say for sure what they’ll announce but there’s always room for speculation. Verizon was the one major carrier missing out on the Galaxy S II announcement, but they assured us they’d be getting a similar device and that they’d have announcements to make in the near future.
Assuming they could unveil the device at this event, you already know what comes to mind for us. Verizon is rumored to receive the Samsung DROID Prime. Note that this differs from what we believe to be the Nexus Prime. It could be a different phone, of course.
And let’s not forget that this may not have anything to do with Verizon – this could be the Nexus itself (though history tells us Google likes to handle that announcement more subtly). Whatever the case is, we know Unpacked events are never uneventful. Stay tuned to Phandroid for coverage of CTIA starting October 11th.
if this is something like or better than the galaxy s 2 I’m switching from T-Mobile. :) crossing fingers
But TMobile is getting the GSII and the Hercules?
The GSII is the Hercules
I was under the impression the Hercules was the GSIIX.
Awesome! Excited to see what they have to offer! Maybe something to replace my DX
Prime time
forget Nexus Prime. GALAXY S III!!!!!
Sooo ICS will be revealed as well then?
I’m tired of holding on to this 14 month old new-age-feature-lacking Vibrant!! October will be the decision making month(until November).
Maybe a own version of the nexus prime.
Like the HTC desire was HTC’s own Nexus one.
But as much as we probably all want this to be true. It seems very unlikely for Samsung to announce a phone with a OS that google hasn’t even released.
I expect to hear about the Nexus Prime (of course), A US launch date for the Galaxy Note (crossing fingers) and possibly just possibly something about a Nexus tablet?(wishful thinking)..You never know :)
I like the way you think sir…Christmas in October! ;-)
Just about every Android 3.0 tablet is running stock Honeycomb! Plus, they are all dual-cores. I can’t think of a reason Google needs to endorse another tablet right now.
@alek no the Hercules is the t Mobile version of the galaxy s2. But I think its going to be focusing on the Verizon and t mobile versions of galaxy lineup. Maybe a new tablet which would suck. But I think t mobile may have some shit up their sleeve come Oct. 11. They been too quite about their version of the phone. Only time will tell
Oooh, good point about T-Mo. That does sound likely, although since their SII variant has already been announced (except for release date), I’m at a loss what else Samsung/T-Mo might have up their sleeves.
