If you’re unsure what this whole “Holidroid Contest” thing is all about, be prepared to get excited. From November 24th through December 25th, Phandroid is giving away a Kindle Fire every single day along with other great prizes like the Galaxy Nexus Galaxy Tabs, JAMBOX, SmarTouch Gloves, Android Phones, Android T-Shirts, Seidio Vouchers and more. Read our announcement post for details.
Yesterday’s Winner
Congratulations to yesterday’s winner, David Batholomew. He was randomly selected as the winner of an Amazon Kindle Fire, Samsung Infuse 4G, a pair of Isotoner SmarTouch Gloves, and a $30 voucher for Seidio accessories.
There are plenty more prizes up for grabs, we’re just getting started. Today is real doozie, Here is a look at what you could win:
Amazon Kindle Fire
The Kindle Fire could be this holiday’s hottest product: at only $199 it’s not only one of the most affordable Android tablets, it’s also one of the best. That’s a killer combination. With a beautiful UI, great battery life, carefully curated apps/games, and an amazing array of media options thanks to Amazon’s Digital Content Ecosystem… the Kindle Fire is a sure win. Good luck winning one in our contest, but at only $199 it’s probably worth buying one just in case!
Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Who wouldn’t want the Samsung Galaxy Nexus? It’s the world’s first smartphone to run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and features the specs to match, including a 4.65-inch 720p HD display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and plenty of on-board storage. HUGE props to Nikolay Ananiev, the developer of an app called Tiny Flashlight + LED, who donated the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for giveaway. His app has OVER 10 MILLION downloads and Nikolay contacted us asking for ways he could give back to the community as a way to say “thanks”.
Jawbone JAMBOX
Ever wanted a small, portable speaker that plays music LOUD and CLEAR and isn’t a pain to setup? Let me introduce you to the Jawbone JAMBOX speaker. This bad boy packs a powerful bunch an extremely small frame, easily connects to your Android device via Bluetooth, and is an absolute pleasure to use. Bluetooth means you can stream not only music, but also games, apps, phone conversations, movies, and any other audio playing on your device! It also means no cords! Put it on your desk. Carry it to the kitchen. Bring it to the basketball court. Take it to your friend’s party. The Jawbone JAMBOX is a music lover’s dream device.
Isotoner SmarTouch Gloves
Every single holiday season these SmarTouch smartphone gloves are consistently one of my favorite gift giving items. They eloquently solve one of the most fundamental problems a tech lover faces: using your device in cold weather. Wearing gloves usually prevents your touchscreen from working: take your phone out, take your glove off, use your phone, hand gets gold, shove phone in pocket, rush to get glove on. NO MORE! Isotoner’s SmarTouch gloves, designed in my colors and sizes for both men and women, has technology that passes the electrons your body gives off, through the gloves, onto the capacitive screen and allowing it to work. VOILA! Seriously. It works. Trust me. Try it… and you’ll love them forever.
Andy Robot T-Shirt
True Android enthusiasts and tech lovers enjoy expressing their Android attitude and there is no better way to do so then with an Android Robot T-Shirt from the brilliant folks at iSteamAndy. They’ve created a series of artistic, creative Android Robot themed T-shirts with fun, rich imagery. They sell like hotcakes and have limited production runs so get each design while you still can. Some of their top designs (and ones we’re giving away) include: Dark Night Andy, iSteam Andy, Flying Andy, Exploded Andy, Andy Verus, and Unstoppable Andy. Check out
Seidio $30 Voucher
With so much smartphone use comes battery drain. Thankfully, Seidio makes some awesome extended batteries that fit many smartphones, allowing you to get longer battery life with the same device. No more toting around a charger everywhere you go: just snag a Seidio and call it a day! Seidio also makes cases, holsters, and other great accessories for your smartphones.Check them all out here.

Samsung introduced the latest fruits of their labor in the form of a new Exynos System-on-chip (SOC) mobile processor built using a new 32nm process that is 30% more power efficient. The Exynos 4212 is a similar dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 just like their older model but this time clocked to a screaming 1.5GHz. However, where the Exynos 4212 really shines is in its GPU which is now capable of delivering 50% faster 3D graphics rendering, as well as the usual 1080p HD video recording/playback and HDMI 1.4 support.
Samsung will be supplying their new 4212 SOC to OEM’s in Q4 of this year and can be found in their own Galaxy S II LTE as well as the Galaxy S II HD. Word on the street is this could very well be the processor powering the upcoming Samsung Nexus Prime which will be unveiled this year at CTIA in October.

The Samsung GT-I9250 which has a 99.9% chance of turning out to be the upcoming Nexus Prime, has just passed its WiFi certification today. Right on schedule with that leaked Samsung roadmap, the eve of the Nexus Prime is almost upon us. In case you needed a refresher, this device will be the premier Google device running the latest version of Android Ice Cream Sandwich. The device will have a 1280×720 HD screen so bright, so vivid, it will be like looking into the face of Andy Rubin himself. Word is Google has made nice with Texas Instruments so you can expect the latest OMAP4 processor they have to offer. No word yet on a carrier but I’ve heard from some people, that know some people, that rob people — it could be Verizon.

TI OMAP 4460 I believe that you said it has better battery life than competitors, and that it was underclocked to 1.2ghz in the galaxy nexus but had the potential to get up to 1.5ghz.

So tired of having to be the first to do something to win these contests. I lurk here CONSTANTLY and still have never even come close to having a chance.
Me too, I was checking all day and step away from my desk for a bit, bam, be the first to answer…

“This seems on par with the Vigor to me. The Vigor wins in the camera and processor departments, while the Nexus wins on the screen, internal storage, battery and OS dept’s.
You can always upgrade your battery, so to me this seems like a toss up and personal choice. It seems to me that these phones will be cutting edge until about January or February. It seems as if they left room for growth.

You said it would be TI’s OMAP 4460 and that is was a “dual-core monster that is nothing sneeze at”.
I don’t like these timed contests. Especially during the workday.
This one was winnable.
I agree, can’t complain about the timed trivia contests. if you are the first to answer it then you win. There is no gray area and there is no way for judges to play favorites. I’m all for more contests like this one.
Seeing as how some, just some people ;) have to work, sleep, have a marriage/relationship they don’t want to ruin, kids to take to school, pick up from school, and other responsibilities and cant be online refreshing the website for 24 hours a day waiting for the magical post to come up so they can drop everything they are doing to post before they unpause their lives,…
Id say that timed, “first post/answer” type contests aren’t what I’d call winnable to many of them……
Then again, being one of those people, I guess I’m a little biased.. :)
As much as I would love to win, I have other more important thing that need taken care of then cyberstalking the magical contest posts. I’m still trying tho. haha =P
Ya, I’m bummed with the contests a little bit. I thought they’ve involve a little more skill, and less timed trivia. Evens the playing ground a little.
Here’s an idea for a contest:
Make a long post, convert to a picture, give the contest a ten minute entry period, and anybody who can type out the entire post correctly within the ten minutes is eligible to win.
stop with these timed contests, PLEASE!

time contest for a Galaxy Nexus? Nice job
Texas Instruments OMAP4 from August 26,2011
The believed processor was a 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 processor, and you guys said (from your sources) that the battery life was quite dissapointing and the device would be ok, not the best but with positive benefits.
who won the video review?????
I hate the first person to comment contest. So unfair.
these timed questions are going to get me fired….i had the site open on a second screen the whole day today while refreshing every 2 minutes….but had to minimize it for exactly 1/2 hour while my boss was around my desk, and guess what, phandoid posts the days challenge :(
I’m late to the contest and have no idea of what the right answer is, but I have to get a Galaxy Nexus because I say so.
Ti omap. Just incase you were wondering lol im the first
Exynos. You said it’d be 30% more efficient.

Come on, Phandroid! Why are the contests featuring the Nexus of the “who can copy and paste the fastest” variety? Some of us have to take a break to eat lunch! My creative juices were just revving up, too!
I know right, I was at school all day and did not get home till 4:00 Central (5 Eastern I believe)
2 and a half hours late.
I agree! Hopefully there won’t be anymore “first to post” contests and we’ll start seeing some creative thinking going on.

Did I win?
Rumored to have TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor …speculations are fun.. but as with any rumors neither are right or wrong, just have to wait
Dual core cortex A9 running at 1.2ghz a core ? Im a but annoyed the the prime doesn’t have Tegra 3 in it, but wouldn’t be annoyed if I got one ;)
Intel 386, “and it will power the newest smartphone OS to date: Windows 3.1”
yea, i read the rules better this now.

a 1Ghz Hummingbird processor …
Thank you so much phanfroid…
This is almost funny. Every single entry in the contest is by BRAND NEW members. None of them have more than 1 or 2 posts. Guess ALOT of people have create numerous ghost accounts…lol!
I agree…boo on these “first one that can post” contests! I was sitting right at my pc at the exact moment this one was posted today and there was still no way I could post the answer fast enough. PLZ! stop the “first one that can post” wins stuff…really not even close to fair.
A 5ghz octocore processor
1million gigs of ram and triple led flash
1.5GHz dual-core chipset
I would love to win one of these contests….would make my wife VERY happy to get one of those Kindle Fires. Those of us with less “technical” skills liked the photo contest. I prefer the “tell us whjat you think” and “random” draws.
What’s David Batholomew’s username? I think that should be part of the post. Would be neat to see when he entered, and how close some of us were to winning.
TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus name is strongly attached to this rumor, and while a slight departure from the nomenclature established with previous releases, tying the device more strongly to the Galaxy S brand could have positive benefits. The phone is said to be a pure Google Experience device (as expected) and is once again confirmed to be a Verizon exclusive in the US
I’m throwing my hat in with the rest of the people complaining about these ridiculous timed contests. It’s tantamount to rewarding the same trolls who (still) feel the need to post “FIRST!” in comment threads.
AGREED! Perhaps out of the first 20, 30 or 100 CORRECT responses, then you could award a random winner! — (Make the comments PRIVATE so we can’t cheat off each other’s answers very easily)
Hey kids, the first rumor WAS the Exynos processor. The TI-OMAP wasn’t rumored until quite awhile later…
I miss it
I agree…the big prize contests should be skill oriented, not timed. I wish I could sit around a computer all day hitting refresh, but I work a job where I can’t. Plus, my hours vary, so yeah, no real chance of winning a quick draw.
:o
hahahhaaa
Why does every one keep answering in the comments? The past few contest has a link to post in the forums you will never win posting to the comments unless it says post to the comments if you are going to complain you need to complain to yourself. You need to at least read and follow the instructions first it is not the forums fault you didn’t read.
I was at work this morning where I am on a computer and I was refreshing every 5 minutes or less then around 12 Central Time, I had to stop and leave to my other job, by the time I got there, about 40 minutes later, the topic had been posted and there were a lot of answers. I want a Galaxy Nexus! Lol. I vote for more best answer or creative contests, not quickest answer contests. At least not for winning a Galaxy Nexus. I work 8AM to 8PM so I will lose every time. Lol.
who won the video contest?
