SteelSeries Ion Looks to Capture Interest of Gamers With New Controller

With the advent of Android devices and joypad-compatible games came a whole slew of gaming controllers. SteelSeries is jumping into the game themselves and they’re looking to introduce what looks to be a worthy contender.

The device is called the Ion and it is closer to modern-day console controllers than any controller we’ve seen. It has two analog sticks, a directional pad, four face buttons and two shoulder buttons.

It has a bit of a weird design but its lack of curves and girth makes it easy enough to slide into your pocket. To get an idea of how thick it is, go find a deck of cards and put it in your pocket – easily comfortable, no?

It uses Bluetooth so no need to worry about wires or compatibility. All of it is slated for Q2 or early Q3 – we’ll hope for sooner rather than later but you’ll have to show your patient side either way. Head to their site for more information. [via DroidGamers]
