Qualcomm has just announced a new variant for their S4 series of mobile processors. It’s the Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM9690 and it’s said to be four times faster than the original version.
It’s helped along by its Adreno 320 GPU which is capable of producing console-like graphics and stunning full HD. It has enough power to support light field based cameras, such as the technology Lytro has been showing off as of late.
Qualcomm mentions that the S4 Pro will be position for the tablet and netbook market, so those of you who wish to see this in phones may not want to get excited just yet. They expect the processor to ship in the second half of this year but it’s too early to tell who might be first in line to use it. Read on for full press details.
