In Case You Were Wondering, Samsung Galaxy S3 Is Outfitted With Gorilla Glass 2
After seeing a demo for ourselves in person during this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, it has now come to our attention that Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 can officially be found on the Samsung Galaxy S3. Corning announced the news today saying,
“We are pleased to offer our customers the thin elegance and refined style of the GALAXY S III using Corning Gorilla Glass 2. New Corning Gorilla Glass 2 is an ideal solution for Samsung’s high-quality smartphones, enabling a superior touch experience and a lightweight and slim design, with the damage and scratch resistance consumers have come to expect.”
It was originally announced that the first GG2 equipped devices would be arriving around May, and it looks like the Galaxy S3 will be one of the first. In case you needed a refresher, Gorilla Glass 2 features all the strength of original, only it’s 20% thinner than before. With less glass between the user and the device, touch sensitivity, as well as clarity, should improve.
