Lamborghini joins the luxury Android market with its new smartphones, made of gold and crocodile skin

35

Those that can afford it find ways to stand out from the crowd. Many of us can purchase the best smartphones in the market, but can we pocket out $2,750 for a phone made of gold and crocodile skin? Lamborghini is sure that some of you can and has decided to manufacture luxurious Android smartphones and tablets running at that price-point.

These devices are the Lamborghini TL700 (smartphone) and the Lamborghini L2800 (tablet). And just like its competition (Tag Heuer being the most popular), the specs of the device are not even close to being considered high-end.

Lamborghini TL700 – $2750

  • Android 2.3
  • 3.7 inch WVGA sapphire crystal display
  • Qualcomm processor of unknown speed
  • 5MP rear camera
  • VGA front-facing camera
  • 4GB of internal memory
  • 1,400 mAh battery

Lamborghini L2800 – $2290

  • Android 2.3
  • 9.7 inch, 1024 x 768 pixels sapphire display
  • 1.2 GHz Qualcomm processor (probably single core)
  • 5MP rear camera
  • 4GB of internal memory
  • MicroSD card support
  • Pair of speakers on the back

It is sad to see Android 2.3 in a smartphone being announced during mid-2012, but it is depressing to see the same for a tablet. Especially one that is going for almost $2300. But if you have the money and really like a phone with good aesthetics, these devices will be available next August in Russia. There is no mention of it coming to other markets, but we are sure you wouldn’t mind importing it for a bit more cash.

What do you guys say? Would you buy any of these luxury devices? I am more of a functionality guy, so I would rather get a normal device with stunning specs. Even if I had an unlimited amount of cash (in some alternate universe).

  1. Why would anyone buy either of these?

    1. Agreed, all that money and they couldnt come up with better specs and OS version? WTF?

      1. For markets like Russia. No matter how bad and tacky the average American can be its amazing what you will see when traveling abroad. Rich people in not traditionally “western” nations take conspicuous consumption to a whole new level.

  2. Um I think I’d keep my galaxy nexus thank you. Who ever buys this is a rich sucker these specs suck! The phone is also ugly in my opinion. I understand the Lamborghini emblem is a novelty of sorts but damn if this is worth 2 grand the HTC one x should be 10 grand.

    1. Don’t give HTC any ideas….

  3. Looks like one of those Chinese fakes, like the sapphire screen though. I wonder how expensive that is, couldn’t they make them artificially???

  4. why lambo?!

  5. Looks almost like the Casio G’Zone Commando

  6. ooh an out dated $2700 phone that will NEVER get an upgrade… gee that sounds like a great idea..

    1. Not even xda devs could touch this.. this would fall into the low activity/ legacy devices forums

  7. The ugliest phone I’ve seen, full stop! I’m assuming that this is some kind of complementary thing that you get when you put down > 150k for when of their exotics. That’s the only reason this makes any sense. In any case Lambo should stick to making great cars because they obviously dosn’t know a think about making a good phone. Porche on the other hand, now that would be interesting.

    1. There is a Porsche BlackBerry

      1. Porsche has a its own design division which is separate to their car division. They design things like phones, shoes, smoke pipes… so when you talk about the Porsche blackberry, Porsche simply designed the body to make it more appealing to physically… at the end of the day you are buying a blackberry designed by Porsche.

  8. Lol. I wouldn’t pay $100 for a phone with a 3.7 inch screen, running gingerbread, and a 5 mega pixel camera. I don’t give a shit what it’s made of.

  9. Just to explain to ones who don’t know the situation, there are two Lamborghini brands: this smartphone is not a creation of the carmaker (Automobili Lamborghini) but it is made by the brand of the son of the founder (a luxury brand and nothing else).

  10. The devices of douches.

  11. You poor crocodile. You should’ve been used better…

  12. WOW!! I`m using $249.99 Galaxy Note and it has better Processor and res.
1280×800 not 1024×768… But thanks, NO ICS yet!!!!

  13. brand name: $1000000000000000000000000

    hardware cost: $100

  14. I see a home button, a back button and – I wonder what the Lamborghini button can do. [Take the hint you uninventive designers]

  15. So, I had just picked up the phone to call my servant from downstairs to order me one when I noticed Android 2.3. My monocle must have flew 6 feet away when that sucker popped out. Looks like this will not be my next smart phone, no sir-y-bob.

  16. The TL700 looks like a Compaq iPaq that’s been pooped out by a dragon. Absolutely hilarious!

  17. Seriously, why do these super fancy, ridiculous phones ALWAYS have out of date specs?

  18. The only appealing thing about these is the sapphire glass.

Gorilla Glass is fine, but having owned watches with sapphire glass crystals, the degree to which sapphire (the second hardest mineral, next to diamond) can resist scratches (even hard impacts against metal) is impressive.

Make a non-ridiculous-looking phone with sapphire glass and a titanium body, and I’d seriously consider it (for a $100-200 price premium, not $2000).

  19. You would think that a price point of over $2000 would make it easy to toss in Android 4.0, 64gb of storage, and a dual/quad-core 1.5GHz processor, not to mention a battery that’s at least half-decent (What phone has a 1400 mAh battery these days?). But, I digress.

  20. My phone is made out of gold and crocodile skin, but my specs are from two years ago. -First World Problem

  21. They can at least install android 4?

  22. OMG you’d have to be a pretentious moron to buy this crap. VERY average specs and boy-racer looks… yuk!

  23. This gives me an idea. Why dont i just cover my old samsung moment in $40 worth of silver stick a ferrari badge on it and sell it for $1500. Who is with me

  24. I skimmed through this expecting it to have some ponies under the hood…. this is on par with a LG phoenix lol but alas it does look badass!
however the comments are hilarious so wouldclickonagain/10

  25. Looks like crap if you ask me.

  26. If I was going to buy a Lamborghini, and they offered me these….I think I’d tell them I was leaving and going to buy a Ferrari.
These things are like them throwing their own wheels on a dang Camry and trying to sell it for the price of a Gallardo…

Why the hell can’t they put all that gold and crap on a device worth using? Call Samsung, Moto, HTC, or even LG, I’m sure they could all have their current dual/quad core flagships gold plated or something.
And what the hell is the point of a piece of jewelry that you have to be actively holding for anyone to notice?

  27. Lamborghini phone or Cardassian tricorder?
