Phandroid will be covering Google IO LIVE in San Francisco this week and there is sure to be a hefty list of awesome Android announcements at what has become one of the tech world’s most significant annual events. If recent history repeats itself, Google will be giving out the latest and greatest hardware to attendees… and we’re giving it all away to our readers.
This is the 1st of the 3 contests and to win you’ve got to guess what Google will give away. We’ve already seen leaked specs of the rumored Nexus 7… is that what they’ll give away? Will it have any surprises? Will they throw in something crazy like a Google TV set top box?
Don’t expect to horde all the rumored specs and submit your entry at the last possible minute because any close calls or judgement decisions will be awarded to the entrant who posts first. Not only will that give you incentive to act quickly, but we hope you’ll share the contest with friends after you’ve entered since you’ll no longer be competing directly with those posting after you.
Here are all the juicy details… +/Like/Retweet if you like this contest!
The Prize:
- Winner will receive all of the Google IO 2012 attendee gifts announced in the keynote speeches (assuming they are transferable).
How To Enter:
- In the comments below, make your guess as to what gifts Google will give attendees at Google IO 2012
- Leave your comment before Google begins their first keynote at Google IO 2012 which is scheduled for June 27th at 9:30AM Pacific
- Provide as many details as possible
Selecting a Winner:
- Winner will be selected and announced on Monday, July 2nd
- Winner will be selected at the sole discretion of Phandroid staff
- Selection criteria will include (but are not limited to) time of post (earlier the better), amount of correctly guessed details (the more the better), percentage of correctly guessed details (lots of wrong guesses count against you).
Rules & Regulations:
- One entry per person
- Phandroid reserves the right to disqualify entrants for any reason including (but not limited) to: submitting multiple entries, creating multiple accounts for the purpose of entry, adjusting comment details, or any act in attempt to circumvent the normal rules/process for the purpose of winning.

Also, they will announce the next version of Android: Jelly Bean.
New Nexus tablet, of course, rumors are accurate. A new Google TV set top box (for those that attend that), and some new Android @Home device(s). What I have no idea.
Nexus 7
I say the Nexus tablet will definitely be one of the gifts. It is one of the most anticipated tablets of the year for its stock ICS/jelly bean experience, and for the specs for the price. It is a cheap, well rounded tablet at least according to the rumors. It will be made by Asus, have a 720p, 8gb and 16gb options and will have tegra 3. It willl also be 7 inches.
I also believe they might give away android@home. I believe it was not spoken of very much because it will make a bigger debut now.
New google tv devices with updated interface, and functionality.
New nexus? I know it wont but if it does i win it :)
Chromebook, why not they are integrating chrome more and making it better. It has grown so much since it started.

Nexus tablet 7, and a Samsung galaxy tab2 10.1

I also believe they will hand out the 7 inch nexus tablets along with a few free apps that google will unveil, for example, the google at home app and possibly a google at home product that will go nicely with the app!
They are giving away the 7in tablet but it will have some changes made to it that make it “custom”. They are announcing the glasses and new features for google TV. They will be giving people access to a new feature before everyone else. Main focus for us as users is the tablet but Google TV is a big part of it.

Probably the much rumoured Nexus Tablet will be given away.
I expect they might give away those new Chromebooks during the 2nd Keynote.
And I expect we shall all be given the amazing gift of the presentations by the Google Engineers as they share their tips and knowledge with us all (but we all get to keep that, even by watching on the Live Stream).
Asus-Nexus Tablet, Samsung Galaxy S3 or HTC ONE X phone, samsumg chromebook and a LTE Hotspot

Asus Nexus Tab; Sony Google TV?; Possibly a Galaxy Nexus, or a chromebook. Maybe they’ll finally have something to show for Android@Home, so maybe a lightbulb or something :P

Android Jelly Bean (4.1)
1.2Ghz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra-3 processor
1GB RAM16GB onboard storage
NFC / Android Beam
Dark color with unique textured back cover
Nexus tablet and a set-top GTV box.
Nexus 7 is close to 100% I’d say. They already gave chromebooks away last year, so maybe they will mix it up and give away a Samsung chromebox. And to round it all out, maybe surprise everyone with those badass Lenovo Google TVs? You know the ones with Qualcomm’s best S4. Quad-core A15’s and Adreno 320.
That’s my guess.
Nexus 7 (nexus tablet), Droid Razr/razr maxx, and Sony Google tv set top boxes.
More than likely what they will give to Google I/O attendees will be a customized Galaxy Nexus 7 Tablet, a couple of Andy Android figurines, and maybe a new Google TV model. For sure though, customized Galaxy Nexus 7. Good luck to all the contestants.
Asus Nexus 7 and Latest Google TV hardware.
I want to say nexus 7, a chrome book, galaxy nexus, and some sort of new google tv device
The nexus tablet is almost a given as a gift. I think we’ll see a project glass device of some sort – likely exactly what we have seen in previous phandriod reports. Aside from that, there will be smaller goodies for developers. A CD with development tools, a bag of jelly beans, an Android themed stuffed toy – I’m going to go with a jelly bean here, and I’m pretty sure there will be many other small goodies.
The tablet will come themed with custom Google I/O wallpaper and icons, the Google I/O app, etc. the project glass unit will be stock with lots of room to develop.
Finally, there will be a Google tv ready to develop apps and interfaces for. I’m expecting Google to encourage cross-device apps that can run on phones, tablets, and tv’s.
That said, I’m NOT expecting a phone to be in the mix.
You will get a Google TV box…..and both limited edition galaxy nexus and nexus tablet both rocking jellybean! And you will get it all with there voice assistant majel or whatever they name it.
Nexus Tablet, Google TV/ANdroid @ home Device, and new Chromebooks
Special edition Nexus 7 tablet 16 GB version, an Android@Home system, a new Google TV box from Sony, and a new Android powered digital camera.
Nexus Tablet. Google TV Set top Box.
Google Nexus 7 Tablet, Nexus Smartphone, Google TV and Chromebooks in a big bag with Jelly Beans.
Nexus 7 Tablet.
My guesses are
Nexus Tablet (8 or 16 GB)
New Chromebook or device running ChromeOS
Jelly Bean will show the framework for an eventual merge between ChromeOS and Android
Some NFC Taags
A new Android Hardware Development Kit
Game Controllers
Android Pens
Project Glass (I wish)
As ASUS is making the Nexus Tablet, I would also assume the Transformer Infinity may be a prize to a few lucky people
Nexus Tablet
Project Glass?
Asus Infinity (Remember last year when they gave out the Galaxy Tab 10.1?)
A Google TV 3.0 ICS / Jelly Bean box (or maybe a tv :-))
Chromebook/box
I think you will get a nexus tablet made by asus. It will have the Exynos 5 Dual Core and probably 2 gigs of ram but not necessarily a quadcore.
Other then that, they will throw shirts at you and probably some google drive space.
Special Google I/O edition Nexus 7 tablet with 16GB, Galaxy Nexus phone, google TV, and some kind of Android toy/plush.
I think there’ll be a few gifts:
Google I/O Special Edition Asus Google Nexus Tablet (7inch), 1280 by 800 pixel resolution , Android Jelly Bean (4.1), 1.3Ghz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra-3 processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, NFC with Android Beam
New Google TV box (by Sony or Logitech) running newer software (maybe Android 4.1 as well)
New Google Chromebook with an updated UI, merging more elements of Android into Chrome OS
Im betting its the Nexus tablet. Project Glass isnt done yet so i dont see how they could give them out
Probably the 16GB variant of the Nexus 7 table and Google’s Chromebook with a side of NFC tiles.
Nexus 7 tablet with some sort of JB tie-in, chrome book, galaxy nexus phones (maybe even a new variant), sutffed Android toys, and some sort of new google tv device (possibly the new Sony variation)
Nexus 7 Tablet from Asus with Jellybean OS installed.
Chromebox from Samsung.
Free Jelly Belly jellybeans. Google TV Set top box. Google Glasses that control a quadcopter.

Best Odds: Nexus Tablet. Chromebox. Sony Google TV.
Wildcard: Project Glass Prototypes (prototypes have been shared before, much like CR-148).
Longshot: The backpack camera shown off at the Maps event.
Definitely Nexus Tablet.
Wishful Thinking: Maybe “Google Glasses?”
Nexus 7 Tablet with an androidified google i/o skin of sorts, Jelly Beans, a Sony Google TV box, and a Samsung chromebook.
Its just going to be the Nexus tablet with a special limited edition design.
Nexus 7 tab by asus, new chromebook, google glasses, a new Google tv box. Ok maybe the Google glasses won’t be given out, but those are my guesses! :)
Nexus 7 tablet and hot android swag!
Nexus 7 Tablet along with some keyboard and cover.
I believe they will give away the 32gb Nexus 7 tablet that will only be available to attendees. They may also give away Android figurines and T-shirts. There will be rides given away for the driverless cars.
Google Tablet and Android@Home Light Bulb
I’m gonna guess a Nexus 7 tablet with a surprising resolution and some Google Glasses with everything developers will need to help it take off
Nexus tablet, chromebook, Google TV, App Store Gift Card, stuffed androids, Google shirt.
Day 1:Nexus 7 tablet (16GB)
Day 2: Chromebox/Google TV/Entertainment box…some sort of box!
There may be a Galaxy Nexus thrown in there, but I wonder if they’ll hold the phone since it’s been out for a while…
The Nexus 7 Tablet
Some sort of a MiFi device
Possible the release of the Sony Google TV
Nexus tablet; limited edition
Project glass demos not the actual glass
Nexus 7 ASUS Tablet – 16GB with Jelly Bean
Samsung Chromebox
Sony Google TV – NSZ-GS7
Nexus 7, Jelly Belly jelly beans, and a Sony Google TV box.
Nexus 7 tablet with some sort of personalization. Maybe a laser-etched backing. Jelly beans will be distributed. The tablet will be presented at some point on a bed of jelly beans.
The new chromebook may also be given away, but I doubt they’d give away both a tablet and a chromebook! Some android themed pins will also be available.
-Nexus tablet, running JB but with additional ChromeOS/webtop style interface
-Attendee badges equipped with NFC that work with accompanying Android App
-Android@Home ‘x10 style’ schwag (switches, dimmers, etc)

Samsung Galaxy S 3, Galaxy Nexus tablet from Asus
Nexus 7 tablet made by Asus. Galaxy Nexus smartphone made by Samsung.
I’m thinking the Nexus 7 tablet, with NFC, not too sure on those specs that got leaked, though. I’d reckon something more like the original Transformer specs for the rumored price. Most other things would probably be Jelly Bean related. I’d reckon the GSM Galaxy Nexus could see the update post announcement. Other hardware? Perhaps beta models of Project Glass? There could also be a new Nexus phone, never rule that out.
New Samsung Series 5 Chromebook (the one that was unveiled a few weeks ago) and a Nexus 7 tablet.
I guess someone already said this so let’s add details, the Nexus 7 has all the specs we already knows it has (ASUS-made, 7 inch tablet with a 800×1280 lcd screen, 4 core processor and Jelly Bean 4.1), and is a Google I/O exclusive version with a grey on black bugdroid pattern on the back. It’s the 16GB model.

A few bags of JellyBeans
Google Wallet gift card
sony’s new google tv… nexus tablets….chromebooks….
Asus Nexus 7 tablet running Jelly Bean, Andy toys, Android Jelly Bean related lanyards/pins and potentially a Sony Google TV with Jelly Bean set-top box. But I think the last one is probably over-kill and only the new tablet will be the big hardware freebie.

Nexus 7 tablet with a Tegra 3 and Jelly Bean made by ASUS. Google TV. A motorola droid razr or a nexus phone made by samsung with jelly bean on it. Google glasses, probably fake and is really a prop.
I believe that an Asus Nexus tablet will be revealed, as well as a refreshed lineup of new Chromebooks. There may well also be a new Nexus phone announcement (possibly from Motorola? who knows..). In addition, I’m sure there will be plenty of fun little goodies as well such as t-shirts and collectible Android figurines. I’d love an Android plush pillow. :)

Google I/O Edition Nexus 7 Tablet
Sony GTV box

They’ll give out the asus transformer pad infinity.
During keynote speech:-ASUS transformer (probably the transformer pad infinity, because the nexus 7 won’t be released soon)
-Galaxy Nexus-Samsung Chromebox
At Google i/o but not during keynote speech:-Android pins (can be collected from different booths)-Jellybeans will be available (the candy not the OS)
I am also inclined to believe Google will want to dish out motorola stuff, but I am unsure as to whether they will actually do this given the whole favoritism-drama that could ensue…so I’ll say no motorola-gadgets.
Also, if you can lose points for guessing the wrong giveaways, can you also gain points by saying things that won’t be given away? If not, then ignore what is written below, otherwise read on:
-They won’t hand out nexus 7 tablets
-They won’t hand out any nexus device, except galaxy nexusses
-They won’t give away google tv devices (maybe next year)
-They won’t give away iPhones (and other non-android related gadgets (duh))
If anyone working at Google is reading this, please make sure this actually happens…if you wanted to give out more, do so after the keynote speech :P I would really like to win the goodies :D
EDITED on monday 25th june at 21:21 (local Netherlands time):
More details I missed in the original post are:
-The galaxy nexus devices that will be handed out will have a custom batterycover. Same as the tablet they will hand out….special backplate/batterycover. And other stuff you will get, but not during the keynote speech: Google i/o 2012 t-shirt

shot in the dark: Andy the Android desk clock
Arrrrggg it won’t let me post. I hate this stupid new disqus!
This year Google will be giving away some very nice goodies to the attendees. First up we have the number one item on most people’s minds, the Nexus 7 Tablet. This will of course come in a Google I/O limited edition finish and will be provided as the 16GB model. Next is the new Chromebooks. Google is looking to get some buzz going this year around it’s newest line of Chromebooks and Chromebox. Attendees will receive the latest and greatest Samsung Chromebook. Last but certainly not least, Google will be trying to make everyone forget about their unsuccessful venture with Logitech that is called GoogleTV and will be putting as much empshasis as possible on it’s newest joint venture with Sony as well as Sony’s newest set-top box hardware. That’s just my 2 cents though =-p

Before the 27th so you should be OK still…quite possible we’ll get a unicorn!
Riding a Unicorn that was self navigated by Google Maps to Atlantis while listening to Tupac’s unreleased songs would bring anyone Angel tears.

8. Asus Transformer Pad Infinity Wifi edition, 32 gb
I’m guessing it will be the nexus 7 or whatever they decide on calling it really because they won’t be sacrificing much money if its really going to be as cheap as rumors have said I hope though that it would be 8 inches that would make it much more appealing or at least 7.7
Nexus 7: 7 inch tablet 1280×800 resolution 1.2 megapixel camera on front none on back 1.3 ghz tegra 3 cuadcore processor 1gb of ram android 4.1 jellybean 3.5 mm headphone jack and volume rocker on the side of device priced at $200. 1. Google Nexus 7 inch screen tablet with 1280×800 resolution with front facing camera and Tegra 3 processor running on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
2. New Google TV hardware by Sony, probably actual TV as opposed to another set top box. Further improvements to the Google TV software.
3. Project Glass preview of software and developer hardware.
4. More bug Droid toys! Love those guys and I need to buy more of them.
The Nexus tab, which will feature a quad core processor of some kind, I’m having trouble believing it’ll be a tegra because it’s so closed. I’m hoping it will be some kind of omap5 chip. Though i cant expect to be totally surprised by the presence of a tegra since this is google playing catch up and surviving and they have to sacrifice some of their principles to do so. Other than that, all the usual rumored stuff.. front 1.3mp camera, no back camera, 1gb ram, 1280×800 screen resolution on a 7″ ips screen all with 4.1.

1) Nexus Tablet
2) Google Swag
3) A Crap Load of Jelly Beans 4) A New Google TV (its been a while)
Google Nexus 7
As everyone else I believe there will be:
1) Nexus Tablet, however I think they will have a surprise and release a 7″ and 10″ Having the 10″ being higher end.
2)New phone to show off jellybean, but this time be more about new hardware. Think of it as a switch from the last nexus showing off software, now they can show off what good hardware can do with great software.
3)Tease of project glass, still nothing too notable.
4)A nexus device partnered with HTC. Most likely a phone. Maybe a salute to the One X of sorts.
Just my thoughts. =)
1. Nexus 7″ tablet named “Asus Nexus 7” w/ Jelly Bean.
2. Samsung Chromebook with new updated OS
3. Galaxy Nexus 16gb GSM unlocked announcing Jelly Bean update available by Friday.

Got to agree with everyone else. . Nexus 7″ tablet named “Asus Nexus 7” w/ Jelly Bean. 2. Samsung Chromebook with new updated OS 3. Galaxy Nexus 16gb GSM unlocked announcing Jelly Bean update available by Friday. 4. $10 Google Wallet prepaid card. 5. 50gb Google Drive space one year subscription.

3. Demo Google NFC tags
4. Asus chromebook 11″
5. HTC One S

7. Android ADK 2.0 with a new android dev shield / kit
I think it’ll be kept fairly simple with prizes including:
1) Nexus 7″ tablet w/ Jelly Bean
2) A Chromebook w/ newly updated OS version
3) Some Google Wallet prepaid gift cards
4) Programmable NFC tags, like Samsung TecTiles (or TecTiles themselves.)
5) Packages of Google or Android branded Jelly Beans

Hope, heartbreak, and some gadgets.
Obviously they will be giving away the 7″ Nexus tablet from ASUS we’ve heard so much about.
Since it launches in July I would bet they also give away the Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV box.
I could also see Samsung getting in on the love, since they have in the past and providing a Galaxy S III, a Samsung Series 5 Chromebook and a Samsung Series 3 Chromebox.
I’d say it’s also a possibility they give out a RAZR MAXX or possibly the upcoming RAZR HD since they now own Moto.
And of course the latest version of Android, Jellybean.
Let’s see.. i’ll peer into my crystal ball and i find…
An Asus-made 7″ tablet with no back-facing camera. Only a 1.2 MP front-facing camera, with speaker grills ON THE BACK, an IPS display with full HD 1280×800 resolution, and a headphone jack on the top left of the device. No HDMI out, but with 4 pogo pins for accessories. No SD card expansion but with onboard 16GB storage, with 1.2 GB of RAM and quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3. The device will feature the same hyperskin as the Galaxy Nexus, only available in black. It will come with free 5G storage in Google Drive, on top of your Google account. It will be Wifi-only, but with the ability to connect to your Android phone via wireless hotspot. The device will feature NFC, and thus the improved Android Beam–allowing to share photos, contacts, and more. Multiplayer gaming will also be a highlight of the tablet, with several developers demonstrating the capabilities on stage. Finally, it will run on the newly announced Android Jelly Bean OS 4.1, with an improved tablet-specific launcher, and ability to apply themes.
Then a chromebook that no one cares about.
My guess(es):
1. Nexus tablet for sure with a quad core processor and good graphics
2. new Motorola phone which could probably match Samsung galaxy S3 or just a newer version.
3. Updated Chromebook.
4. Since they are pushing google tv this year, they may give some set top boxes. The Sony event is giving the set top box, so it may not be sony, but some set top box is possible.
5. Google glasses.
I think 1 and 4 are highly likely. 5 I really doubt. 2 is possible, thats my speculation since they acquired Motorola. 3 is possible, since they still don’t have that wide adoption of Chromebook.
1. Google Nexus Tablet 7-inch, quad-core, running Android 4.1.
2. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. Quad-core running Android 4.0.
3. Samsung/Acer Chromebooks
4. HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy SIII

9.Project Majel too!
10. Pinterest? (Don’t care really)
The gift will be a “TabTop”. This is a combo of Tablet and Laptop, truncating “let” and “Lat” to form what is called a “TabTop”. If a phablet was a combination of a Phone and Tablet, then the premier surprise announcement at IO 2012 will be a Google Nexus Chrome TapTop. Basically it is a 13″ inch Chromebook with an LCD touchscreen that folds back on itself, like older type Windows touch laptops. The difference is the software. The main interface is a Chrome Browser but each tab can be a regular Chrome web browser tab or one of these two special tabs:
1. an Android home screen which can run any Android app. With this
tab the touch screen is turned on.
2. a light Xorg windows screen to run any full blown Linux X Windows application or a terminal to run any Linux command utility.
A TabTop is a ChromeBook that gives us Android and unadulterated access to the Linux OS too.
This can be done with the latest ChromeBook hardware so I won’t go into details. It would be nice if it could have a retina-ish display resolution.
I’m going for most creative and ingenious gift prediction, it there a category for that?

1. Google Asus Nexus Tablet 7″.

My thoughts are
– Google Nexus 7″ wifi device with no micro sd card expansion based on googles new cloud services. 10GB free storage with purchase.
– New chrome pc (small) box with all the connections including HDMI, 128GB SSD, USB for home use.
– Sony Google TV box (latest) with major improvements to the software.
– Big bag of Jelly Beans promoting the new google OS.
This is all based on my 24/7 android fascination. Also the fact that I waited in the queue and didn’t refresh while everyone did thinking I would get a ticket to this event. Super bummed when I found out it had sold out. Although, I can watch it online, there is nothing like being there live.
