Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus has sometimes been referred to as as the black sheep of Nexus devices, usually trailing behind when it comes to official AOSP support. Well, today, it looks like that is changing with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Toro) now has its official binaries exposed, and posted for ROM devs/chefs to download and cook up. Nexus brothers, it’s time to officially welcome the Verizon Galaxy Nexus back into the fold. We missed you.
Of course, this puts the ball in Verizon’s court, and we’ll have to wait and see how quickly they can test, and push out this update for unrooted users on their network.

I’ll believe it when I see it. Between their lousy rates and the fiasco that was 4.0.4 (not to mention the delays just getting the device out the door to begin with), I’m seriously considering re-buying an unlocked GNex through Google Play and dumping VZW for a pre-paid plan.

This is true, as enticing as all these new Android devices are with their processors and their dingly-bops, I have to stop and remind myself that I’m sticking with Nexus from now on…
Just coming up on my 2 year anniversary of my Droid X, I am in the enviable position to activate a new refurb nexus or activate my pre-ordered-day-1-to-keep-my-unlimited-data SIII… yes, poor me BUT ya, POOR ME, i don’t know wtf to do!!! >( :(

This may sound good, but Verizon is known to mess up anything. Like the Samsung thing. They put the blame on Sammy, but how come the other carriers don’t have locked boots? Obviously Verizon had something to do with it and that’s why. That’s like asking for somebody to do something, and when they do it you put the blame on them when the crowd gives you a negative reaction. Well, you told them to do it.
Great! Maybe eight months from now Verizon will start sending out Jelly Bean to its Galaxy Nexus devices.

CDMA man, it messes it all up. But it is not a technical problem with CDMA.
The problem is one of greed, sir.
Hopefully that will come soon. I can see Sprint being less of a bitch than Verizon with regards to being friendly to the open source community.
