Motorola is petitioning members of their Feedback Network to take part in a software upgrade test for the WiFi edition of their XOOM tablet, an event that all the more worth noting given its proximity to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update Google promised during the I/O keynote presentation. The Motorola XOOM was listed alongside the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S as the first group of devices to receive the updated Android OS. With an delivery timeframe of July, there is reason to believe this may be the software upgrade Moto is currently seeking to test.
If this round of testing does indeed signal the beginning of the Jelly Bean update process for the XOOM it will fall in line as the second tablet to officially feature the latest version of Android, and the first to do so in a 10.1-inch form factor. This will presumably also make it the first device to feature a landscape orientation as the default presentation. Once the update is approved the process shouldn’t take too long. As a WiFi-only device there is no carrier partner to do any meddling.

Great, glad I bought my Xoom in the US (I’m in the UK). I wonder why Samsung said that the SGS2 isn’t capable of Android 4.1, its higher spec than the Xoom.
Personally, I don’t care for the idea of landscape being default on my 10.1 inch tablet. I hardly ever rotate that way to begin with. Here’s hoping it goes portrait on auto like it does now.
And on the flip side, I never use portrait… I live in a horizontal world.

This sucks for me. I got my Zoom off eBay last year so it’s not from the u.s. So I’m missing out on the ice-cream and jellybean goodness. Phooey!

Things will improve once they can build off an official base.. But this ROM is damn near perfect already, crazy what dev’s can do in such a short time
No kidding, only problem I have had is with face unlock and that’s not bad at all. Devs Don’t get enough appreciation
It seems there’s just no reason to dislike my Xoom wifi. Works great, still fast enough and always gets the latest OS first.
This has got to be the most successful Android Tablet to date, because of the Updates.
