Toshiba is continuing its smartphone line with the addition of a new Regza phone. It’s the Toshiba Regza T-02D and it comes with an insanely, ridiculously high resolution camera for smartphone standards.
It’s a 13.1 megapixel and it uses Sony’s Exmor R backlit sensor. The camera can achieve ISO levels of up to 25,600, something that a lot of DSLRs can’t even achieve (though who would really want that much image grain to make up for a lack of light?)
It also has a 4.3 inch “new AMOLED Plus” qHD display, and will house a dual-core processor (make and model unknown) clocked at 1.5GHz. Android 4.0, LTE, and more round out the specs for this thing.
It sounds like it might actually be a very decent smartphone, but don’t expect much of the world to get a chance to own it. This one’s headed to Japan first and we wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t venture much further outside of Asia. Read on for full press details.

5. Latest Human Centric Engine delivers ultimate convenience through dedicated LSI“On” when held
Based on the smartphone’s orientation and motion, the handset automatically determines whether or not it is being held in the user’s hand. As long as it is being held, the screen will be kept lit.
Intellicolor
The phone detects the kind of lighting in use at the user’s location-such as fluorescent, incandescent, and natural lighting-and automatically adjusts the screen’s color balance to the optimal setting.
Shake-activated screen recovery
Even if the user unintentionally tilts the phone, the screen orientation can be returned to its original state by simply shaking the handset two or more times. This is useful for quickly returning the screen orientation to the desired state when the user is lying down.
Sleep log(11)
With its built-in accelerometer and microphone, the smartphone can detect the state of the user’s sleep and provide detailed information about the user’s sleeping habits, including the duration of sleep, the number of times the user rolls over during the night, and snoring-related information. The handset will also offer advice to users about how to improve their sleeping habits.6. High-resolution 13.1-megapixel camera among the top of its class of smartphones
T-02D’s camera is equipped with an “Exmor R for mobile” back-illuminated CMOS sensor, along with the “Milbeaut Mobile” image processing engine that incorporates a wide range of photography capabilities, including high-sensitivity capturing and noise reduction. The combination of these features allows for stunning high-resolution photographs and videos.
Highly responsive
The camera has a launch time and shot-to-shot wait time of about 0.5 seconds(12). As a result, users never miss out on the perfect moment, and can capture it with a great looking picture.
Super nighttime mode
In addition to T-02D’s ISO 25600-equivalent high sensitivity, the phone also comes equipped with a nighttime mode that allows users to take beautiful photos at night while minimizing camera shake and noise, two problems commonly encountered with previous low-light photography technology.7. Smart fingerprint sensor with on-off switch
Rather than using a passcode or swipe pattern to unlock the phone’s screen, the new handset’s fingerprint sensor allows users to simply press and slide a finger across a switch to quickly unlock it. The screen can also be turned on and off using the switch, enabling one-touch operations.

Apple sucks.
I agree! Its all about Android!
Android is garbage iOS for will always rule
If we’re talking about the realm of outdated the day their customers get their hands on it (compare the last two iPhone launches to the last three SGS launches), slow (Compare processor and SOC’s to many Androids), and buggy (search “apple vs android app crashes”, see Forbes article), then, yeah, Apple rules.
I choose the land of freedom, speed, customizability, with the only rules being what my hardware is capable of.
Please dont talk about bugs and crashes, android has the title for that one, it’s funny that your androids specs wise look like beast phones yet when it comes down to it, they all suck at the one thing that truly matters, user interface, “project butter” gimme a break, I guess “project butter” weve had since the first iPhone while you still try to catch up to that one. Don’t even get me started on the crappy battery life and cheap feeling phones you have.
My phone is a beast phone, and it’s two years old. The OG SGS Vibrant, rocking Jelly Bean with a FFC mod.
Android actually tells the user (and allows the user to tell the developer) when every little thing goes wrong. Apple hides it until the whole app crashes, hence the deception that nothing is crashing. But facts don’t lie, just people. Check your facts about bugs.
And yes, my phone is slick and fast, despite being older than the iPhone 4 (which Apple deemed as too slow to get Siri). Despite that, I’m rocking Google Now Search, and IT REALLY WORKS. Throw in a minimum of 24 hour battery life, gusting up to two days (and every iPhone owner I know has a battery case on their phone that triples its size-so much for the thinner phone!).
And, hey, it may be plastic, but I put ALL my phones in TPU cases, so the plastic doesn’t matter. The important part is the screen, and that’s Gorilla Glass for every flagship Android out there!
Ok you have a very old device that is running the latest android OS, BUT had you not rooted the phone, you would’ve never had a chance to get an update, and that’s another point, you shouldn’t have to root the phone in order to have the latest software I mean after almost a year only around 10% of devices are running ICS, oh yeah my friend you’ve chose freedom.
Actually, you’re kind of making my point for me. First, my phone was officially supported by Samsung until Gingerbread, which was the most recent OS until January. So, yeah, for the past six months, there has been a more recent OS. That’s pretty darn good. Better, though, is the fact that my phone is capable of being (and actually is) UNBOUND by ANY limitations. If there is something that it is capable of, like getting Jelly Bean, I can do it. Not so with Apple. My motto is: If my phone CAN do it, my phone WILL do it. Period.
And you’re helping me make mine, the iPhone 3GS is over 2 years old, yet owners are running the CURRENT OS and I’m sure that once iOS 6 comes out they will continue to be upgraded, unlike some of your flagships that haven’t even been out that long and they won’t even see ICS, that’s not right.
The iPhone 3GS is heavily neutered in order to run iOS 5, with some of the most important features missing. And, most importantly, the OS isn’t really feature-rich to begin with, missing things such as the extensive plug-ins available to the Android browser, widgets, better keyboards, native DLNA, pinch-to-zoom video, etc. For my phone – no neutering required.
The 3GS can do the majority of the things that the 4s can do , the things it can’t do are very little, why would I need a different keyboard than the one it brings or anything like that? I use my phone to text browse the web and make calls, other than that I don’t care for widgets or any of that stuff, I want a phone that doesn’t crash and one that the user interface is buttery smooth as well as one that takes great pics, so I’m quit happy with my 4s
You keep screaming stability, but my ICS was stable as a rock. It’s too early to tell about my current ROM…I just got it last night. But, it hasn’t crashed or glitched yet. And Samsung has great cameras; in fact, they manufactured the iPhone’s.
Why would you like to be in the gallery, and share a photo with two clicks to e-mail, facebook, google+, bump, or just about any other photo sharing application? Why would you want to have the fastest typing keyboard on the planet (Swype)? Why would you want to see your upcoming appointments, the day, time, battery status, and forecast merely by turning your screen on? Why would you want to see the entire web, regardless of flash or WMV videos embedded in a page? Why would you want your contacts merged with their Facebook counterparts to be able to see their status when you make a call (giving you possibly relevant info you’d have been otherwise blind to without research)? Why would you want to access your entire phone from your computer, allowing you to file transfer, send and receive texts, and engage apps at the click of a mouse? Why would you want the freedom to totally automate your phone state (i.e.-turn off ringer at so and so time unless screen is on, or turn on wi-fi when gps says I’m home), so you don’t have to think about it? All this and more, that’s the Android way. If you don’t want more from your phone, then you’re probably OK where you’re at. I’m betting you just don’t really know what you’re missing.
Maybe so, however the majority of those
Things don’t even interest me, with my work I barely have time to be on my phone, I need a phone that’s simple and to the point, one that is intuitive and simply works, and the iPhone does this for me, on the point you made about the camera, my gf had a gs 2 with an 8 megapixels camera just like my 4S however our pictures look nothing alike and the quality of my pics are a lot better than hers. My screen is small as heck that’s true yet it’s a lot more crispier and bright than hers, those are the types of things that make me stick to my phone and not jump to android, besides her battery life is horrible compared to mine. But to
Each their own.
See the thing is, I have a better screen than your shitty i*hone. I have LTE, you’re stuck on 3G. Sucks to be you. I can go more than a day without charging my phone. Just because you have an iPhone doesn’t make you better. Who has more market share in mobile? Android has over 51% whereas Crapple has 34%. As for PC’s, Windows dominates the PC market, whereas, Crapple is on the lower end. See my friend, you are sadly mistaken by Crapples gimmicks. That shitty company will end up in the ground just like Steve Blowjobs is. Give it time. It can’t stay afloat like the unsinkable ship, Titanic… Oh.. Wait..
U have a better screen than me? How is it better? Bigger isn’t better lol and you get all day power with LTE? Haha Stfu u don’t know what you’re talking about, oh one more thing, the reason why crapdroid has more market share than apple is simple: there are. A billion shitty ass android from 20 different oems. Even cheap ones that you get free when you sign a contract haha
It’s better because it is a higher resolution than yours.
342 ppi on my Rezound vs
330 ppi on your iPhone. Oh, and it’s bigger, by almost an inch. Also, for your information, I do get all day battery life on LTE. So, there’s two for two. And if “crapdroid” has “a billion shitty ass android from 20 different oem,” explain to me why this is bad? It’s bad to have options? It’s bad to have a choice in life instead of being told what to do? Oh, ok. Keep living the life of Apple. So, I just pointed out three reasons why my phone is better than yours. So, why don’t you “stfu.”
He is just an idiot that is blinded by apple juice.
Most Android’s have better screens than the iphone. Any Super Amoled display is better as well as the display on the new HTC phones. The colors are too washed out on the iphone and the screen isn’t even hd. Plus it’s got a 4:3 aspect ratio…you know…just like the old TV’s that nobody has any more.
yeah apple sucks
Apple folks are sore losers. They can’t complete fair and square.
I would take this over any phone currently released in the US… hands down.
You know people. I would never in a million years buy an apple product. Period. I love my xperia play. With that said there is no reason that people should bash iPhone, likewise iPhone users shouldn’t bash android. There are OS’s for everyone. Some want apple products…if that’s your bang…go for it. Likewise android. Really tired of seeing pissing contests between android/iPhone. Its silly, stupid and immature. Its not a pissing contest, its not a ‘whose got the biggest penis’ contest. If you like iPhone go for it. If you like android, like me, go for it. Bashing is pointless and only pisses people off. Enjoy your tech gear people.
