Verizon launching Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 on August 17 for $349

If you are shopping for a tablet to add to that Verizon Share Anything plan, a new option will soon be available. Today Verizon announced that it will add the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to its product portfolio beginning August 17th. The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is a 7-inch slate with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 3.2MP rear camera and VGA front-facing camera, and 4G LTE support. It will launch with Ice Cream Sandwich on board.

Now seems like an appropriate time to remind everyone that Verizon is no longer subsidizing the cost of tablets, so you can expect to pay full price if the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is in your future. The good news is that full price is only $349. Or perhaps that isn’t such great news considering a Nexus 7 would only set you back $199.

  1. “New customers can subscribe to a Share Everything plan for data devices starting at $40 for 4 GB of sharable data.” Why can’t they offer something like this for smart-phones as well.

It makes a lot more sense then $50 for 1GB of data with unlimited talk+text. Not to mention that they are also charging $40/phone/month. Before you walk out the door you’re already hooked for $90 and that’s before taxes for only one 1GB of data.

  2. Isn’t this tablet only $250 everywhere else? Also, why would you buy a tablet from carrier now that Verizon can’t stop your from tethering from your phone?

    1. The price went up for LTE

  3. I’m not following this. Isn’t full retail price 249? That’s what I paid.

  4. I’m guessing the extra 100 bucks is for the 4G radio. The original was Wifi only.

  5. What people are missing is thatThis is not the same device that is being sold at Best Buy, etc. This device has been upgraded to a 1.2 Mhz Dual core from a 1.0 Mhz Dual Core. Also Features WiFi, and 4G which the other device does not even have. It is also has some business features to allow for encryption of data for Business users.

    1. The original tab features WiFi as well.

      1. Yes of course, but not 4G.
Probably just bad wording on my part. =)

  6. Does this come with an IR blaster like the 7.7?

  7. This sounds like such a good deal I’m going to sell my nexus tablet to buy it. …wait, that doesnt make sense.
