Asus confirmed via their social networks earlier today that the Transformer Pad Infinity and Transformer Prime were set to receive Jelly Bean in the coming weeks. They told us to stay tuned for further updates and like clockwork, the Taiwanese manufacturer has provided a mini-changelog of sorts, so that Transformer users know exactly what to expect in the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Let’s take a look:
- Upgrade OS from Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
- Default enable System Bar Lock
- Add Multiple Photo Selection feature
- Support Connect Dock (Accessory)
- Remove Adobe Flash support
- Remove Wi-Fi Direct function support
- Remove Press Reader (still available in the Play Store)
As far as when users can expect the rollout to take place here in the US, Asus is planning Tomorrow, September 27th for the Transformer Prime, followed by Friday, Sept. 28th, for the Infinity. Time to hit up Craigslist to see if I can find a Transformer Infinity Pad on the cheap.
Thanks, Aiman!
Honestly chris i wouldnt use craiglist. There have been alot of QC problems with the infinity so i wouldnt take the risk unless they come with a warranty. Best buy is price-matching online retailers now. Myself and couple others over at xda were able to get it for 347.49.
Wow… $350 is exactly what I was looking to get it for. I’ll give Best Buy a try. Thanks for the heads up, I really appreciate it. :)
Great! I will soon have two jelly bean devices :-) wish I could root and find custom ROMs for my infinity though
Android’s elite 1% :p
TF201 is downloading a firmware update now. In New Jersey. USA.
JB 4.1.1 Downloaded and installed.
What does it…. taste like? O.o
Sweet. It’s snappier. Never used wifi direct so no loss there. It’s all good.
It’s up! i am updating now!
Up, Mobile, Al.
Thinking factory reset prior.
Woke up this morning to the sweet, sweet taste of Jelly Bean. Installing now.
My TPrime feels much more responsive. It didn’t change the look all that much (and to get to Google Now, you click on the Google icon instead of flipping up), but it’s more about the speed. And it did that nicely.
