There’s a good chance you haven’t the slightest clue on what “Zaxxon” was, or how it changed video games in the 80’s. Perhaps I’m showing my age a bit, but I remember going to my grandma’s house and there was 2 games we’d play on her dusty old ColecoVision — Donkey Kong and Zaxxon. Developed by Sega back in ’82, Zaxxon was one of the world’s first isometric space shooters and guess what? It looks like it’s about to get a long overdue sequel/remake for your Android device.
Sega uploaded a very brief teaser video for the upcoming title and while it doesn’t give us a chance to view actual gameplay, it does give us a quick peak at the games visuals which look pretty impressive. But then again, maybe I’m just looking though nostalgia goggles. What do y’all think?

Showing my age, but…Zaxxon was one of my favorite arcade games back in the day! This and Tron. Yes, the original Tron arcade game.
Right there with you on Zaxxon & Tron… with a dash of “Dragon’s Lair” thrown in.
Also: “Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the Frontier against Xur and the Ko-dan Armada”
Still got my Colecovision somewhere at my parents along with the ADAM computer by Coleco…my mom worked there and was able to get us a Colecovision for Christmas…thought it was AWESOME..till the paddles and side buttons stopped working….but ZAXXON was a very good game along with Time Pilot and Mouse Trap and Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr and etc……….LOL
….

You’re not seeing the video embedded above?

Interesting.. I’ll look into it. Thanks.
I couldn’t see the video using the app either.
nope. there’s no video while using the app. on my atrix HD :/
Doesn’t look like star fox at all… and I’m ok with that, cause I love star fox.
I had this for my Apple II. Didn’t look nearly as good as the arcade version, but tons of fun. And really f’ing hard!
I had a Zaxxon upright for a few years, its awesome!
I remember playing the original. It would be so cool if they released the original on Android. I keep waiting for Galaga, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.
HELL.TO.THE.YES !
put a smile on my face. blew through many a quarter on this classic game!!
That was one of my favorite games. I can’t even begin to guess how much money I spent on that game. It’s good to know these age-old classics haven’t been forgotten.
