It may not be the most powerful of Android handsets, but that’s not to say it isn’t fully capable. The HTC One V was the little brother in HTC’s One line and if you hurry, it can be picked up on the cheap from Virgin Mobile for $50 measly dollars (that’s $100 off!).
Part of their Cyber Monday sale that ends any minute now, Virgin Mobile operates on Sprint’s nationwide (rapidly improving) 3G network, and offers plans for as little as $35 a month for 300 minutes with unlimited text and data. Of course, if Sprint’s coverage is lacking in your city, you may want to pass.
But for those looking for an Android stocking stuffer for the kids, this might be your go-to device. This is barely $15 more than that $35 Huawei Android smartphone Black Friday shoppers went crazy over last Thursday — and a much better investment. Oh, and if the One V isn’t your style (I’m thinking of picking one up for my mum), the rest of Virgin Mobile’s lineup can also be found discounted. Hit the link below.
i still prefer my optimus v over my one v
HOW? o_O
I had an LG vortex (VZW re-branding of the same phone) and it was a POS
mine wasnt stock….
Have a boost mobile phone that has lousy coverage and speeds so this is a no go for me.
I know people who are still happy as clams on Sprint. This could be a good phone for their kids, mom, gf.
its a well performing phone deserves more credit then it gets
Anything would be better then this lowend Samsung Galaxy Prevail I have had since early last year. As to you Chris I am just hopping that the recent release of LTE around here will help get people off the 3g end and allow us better coverage and speeds then what we are getting.
dude i loved my prevail
Not complaining about the phone and you have to admit it was low end when it came out. There are better phones out now that can handle ICS and JB and still be considered lowend for this time. I have complained far more about the crappy boost mobile service then about my phone. I would need to get a new phone if I switch carriers since this one wouldnt run on any other networks.
I sent this in on the sonos contest hook me up phandroid
Buy and install GrooveIP. Use at home as a backup phone that rings your Google Voice number. Can also be used as a gaming/media device for the kids.
What kinda witchcraft are you talking about? O_o
Set up a Google Voice number. Install GrooveIP Lite. Connect to your home WiFi. Setup GrooveIP Lite with your GV number so you can receive inbound calls and make outbound calls as well through your home/office WiFi. ;)
I use a Note II with T-Mobile, but I have this set up on my Nexus One that does not even have a SIM card installed. Works great. Hell, I even did this setup with my Nexus 7. You want to talk about a phablet, that is it.
Also, you can install GrooveIP Lite for free and it gives you the same functionality.
I’m such a noob with this stuff. But you make it sound so easy, I’m gonna give it a try :O
Thanks for this!
Now, if this were a GSM phone, I would pay $125 to $150 for it as a standalone backup phone for going out, working out, etc. I have seen it up close and personal, and it really has good fit and finish.
i hit this deal the minute it went live last night…not happy i have to carry this thing around for 3 months. but. sometimes, even when a contract runs out, ya just gotta do what you gotta do to load the xmas tree with toys for your boy, and save a penny to get a gnote 2 for yourself.
Sounds like that boy should have that note 2
santa got him a kindle fire. santa also understands when dad gets his note 2, he wont have to share as often that way. ;-)
Damnit, i just bought this for $139 two weeks ago for my wife :(
I know it’s too late now, but: http://www.virginmobileusa.com/30-day-guarantee
I don’t know why, but I bought it. $50 seemed too good of a deal to pass up. I can use it as my workout tracker when I run and just to tinker with…yay
It says $149 for me….. :(
Shame, because i would have bought one just as a toy for $50….
Reply to wrong person. Sorry.
I have this phone. It is a pretty decent phone for $150. And I was coming from the Samsung Intercept on VM. Loads better. I am able to play Minecraft PE perfectly on it. Don’t expect to get GTA3 to run on it. It lags as hell. I mean, GTA3 will load up and run, but will crash after a little bit. Oh well. Its only a single core 1ghz processor.
Still pretty nice though for the $150 I paid on it. Looking forward to another VM upgrade in a years time :) I hear that Sprint will get LTE next year. Very nice to hear that. :)
