More Note 8.0 pictures show off S Pen support

37

For the seeing-is-belieivng types out there, here are a few followup pictures to yesterday’s first look at the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 showing off the tablet’s S Pen. From the looks of things, the stylus will get a slight external makeover to fit the Note 8.0’s design, but while Samsung will almost certainly bake in some new functionality, it’s not being shown here.

Otherwise it’s the same Note 8.0 we have been seeing in renders and leaks. Quad-core CPU, 1280×800 8-inch display, and a launch suggested for Mobile World Congress. We’d say the veracity of this particular device is all but certain at this point.

    1. derpy… what is a Note

      1. My Note 10.1″ isn’t a phone.

    2. Probably going to do something like this… http://ydfgg.com/2013/01/25/htc-mini-video/

  2. Its a phone, like a big mercedes.

  3. Oh snap… time to put the Note II up for sale if this thing can handle cellular calling.

No, I won’t be able to hold it one-handed, and no, it won’t fit in my pockets. IDGAF

    1. Being able to put your phone in your pocket is pretty important. Every other device can be tethered.

      1. … and yet two people *still* bit. Classic.

    2. Certainly not Brian Genius.

  4. And people used to point fingers at Dell Streak for being big? What the hell is this thing then?

    1. what don’t you understand?

    2. The note 2 is almost the same size as the streak.

  6. hey look.. no one can whine about an HTC phone in the picture now. OH NOES!

  7. Can’t wait to see people walking around with these stupid things against their ears!

    1. Why would someone hold a phone against their ears? O_o
It’s not like people still make phone calls… do they?

  8. Dat bezel

  9. Question to Note users : do you really use the S-Pen ? What’s it truly worth for ?

    1. Well the screen contains an actual Wacom digitizer, so I’m sure graphic artists get plenty of use out of it. It’s also a godsend for playing games like draw something or drawception.

    2. I use it nearly 100% of the time I’m interacting with the phone. Primarily, I like it for its ability to keep fingerprints to a minimum. It’s also nice to have predictable friction (or lack thereof) when moving along the screen.

I’m looking forward to the day that I can type an e-mail and personally sign it in gMail. It’ll be handy for that, of course.

… and the handwriting calculator works very well with it, too.

    3. I use my Note 2 to take all my notes in college.

    4. Yep. Having an integrated Wacom( S Pen ) is absolutely king. I use it for most navigation — does rollovers on the web like a mouse — sketching, and illustrations via program called TV Paint.

No other stylus option come close to what Wacom offers and all capacitive alternatives are really just crap in comparison.

  10. That’s a pretty ugly looking tablet

    1. You mean ugly phone, but nice looking tablet ;)

    2. It is very ugly. Why does no one understand that samsung doesn’t do good looking designs? They feel cheap and they’re ugly.

      1. Thank you, hardware is terrible… That’s why I got rid of my S3 for an Optimus G

  11. I can’t wait for this will be selling my transformer prime for one of these.

  12. I’m really surprised that it’s a phone too. I love a big phone, but wow.

  13. guys.. this is a good thing.. a tablet that also functions as a phone lol

  14. This thing is too ugly…

    1. As long as it’s not orange or yellow (cough Nokia cough), I’m happy.

  15. I was hoping it was landscape to differentiate their phone line and tablet line… wait is this a phone too?

  16. Holy crap monkeyballs… A phone?

I’ve been waiting for this; I love my Nexus 10, but the form factor of the Nexus 7 is almost just right, and a 7-8″ equivalent with the S-Pen tech would be my perfect option… but why does it need to be a giant phone?

  17. im buying this come year end when my contract is up..but i swore i would buy nexus cause of software updates..but with this thing…it looks good…

  18. do not want
