Owners of the original Samsung Epic 4G — Sprint’s keyboard-enabled version of the Samsung Galaxy S — will be happy to know that the device isn’t dead! Well… it’s probably dead at the hands of Sprint, but you know the development community always has your back. The phone has finally gotten its first nightlies of CyanogenMod 10.1, meaning those who don’t mind flashing a ROM or two can step up to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and partake in exciting new features like lock-screen widgets.
You should know by now that nightlies aren’t always guaranteed to be stable enough to be daily drivers. They’ll work to some degree, and in most cases they don’t pose many problems at all, but there’s always a chance that things won’t be stable. Knowing that, be sure to backup your current setup and make sure you keep a plan B if things don’t go as they should. Head to the CyanogenMod mirror here to get the 158MB download.

damn. blast from the past
I still own mine (ended up going to a Galaxy Nexus, and I’m on a Note 2 now, though). It’s still a very serviceable piece of hardware with the right ROMs.
Thanks for posting this Phandroid!
This was my first android, and still my fav of all I’ve owned-have a Galaxy Nexus now. That was the first of the Galaxy line which is the best line today. The build quality was great for its time and screen quality and performance is as good or better than many current phones, not the high end current ones ofcourse. The Epic 4g was indeed, Epic.
Mine is currently serving as a portable media player after serving as a phone for a friend after it served me for 1.5 yrs.
If you think Wayne`s story is super,, four weaks-ago my cousins step dad basically made the small fortune of $8039 sitting there a 20 hour week from their apartment and there friend’s mother-in-law`s neighbour has been doing this for 3 months and earnt over $8039 part time from a labtop. the steps on this link, jump15.comCHECK IT OUT
Awesome. Still my favorite Android phone as I love the QWERTY keyboard and full screen combo when typing. Sadly, I’ve been forced to upgrade to the phablet Note II as it has the only virtual keyboard that my phat phingers can use. My Epic 4G is wifi only now but is used for long emails when I’m away from my laptop. Hopefully the wifi mode works OK with this mod. I am still hoping that Samsung with come out with an S3 or S4 Epic 4G QWERTY slider sometime…
i still have mine, though i have and use a Note 2 now.
