We’re live at the GTC show in San Jose, CA this week, and we’ve been taking in everything NVIDIA has to offer. One of the things we’ve been wanting to see since it was announced was the HDR photo and video capabilities of the Chimera computational engine featured in the Tegra 4 chipset. With this, OEMs will be able to offer real-time HDR photo taking and video recording capabilities, a problem that most companies are just now starting to solve in their 2013 flagship smartphones.
Chimera’s always-on HDR mode will be able to facilitate 30 frames-per-second HDR video, HDR stills, HDR burst mode and simultaneous flash and HDR (most phones force you to use one or the other, but not both at the same time). It’s great stuff that we can’t wait to see inside Tegra 4 phones and tablets starting later this year. Grab a look at the quick demo above.

Will the Tegra 4 ever even make it to smartphones in the U.S., because i got the impression that the Tegra 4i was aimed at smartphones(LTE) and the Tegra 4 towards tablets, the Tegra 4i though is only an updated quad core Cortex 9 chipset. Hope im wrong.
Yes the tegra 4i will be based on updated A9 cores (dubbed as A9R4). Performance wise it should better than previous revision by 15-20% at the same clock according to nvidia.
