Kyocera and Verizon have just announced that a new waterproof smartphone would be launching on the carrier this Thursday, August 29th. It’s the Kyocera Hydro Elite, a 4G LTE smartphone that will cost you about $100 to own. For that, you’ll be entitled to a device that has a 4.3-inch HD display, an 8 megapixel rear camera, a 1.3 megapixel front camera, NFC, wireless charging, and more.
It can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes, as well, so a rainy day shouldn’t be any problem for this guy to endure. It’s also good for those who find themselves in loud areas, as the Smart Sonic Receiver can transmit sounds directly to your inner-ear using a technique that combines air conduction and tissue conduction. The result is said to be audio that is much clearer and easier to hear than, say, bone-conduction technology.
It’s not an HTC One, a Motorola X or a DROID MAXX, but more options are never bad. Let us know if you’ll be looking to own one of these once they’re out in a couple of days.
