No matter which Android manufacturer you claim allegiance to, there’s no denying the upcoming LG G2 features some pretty impressive hardware. Aside from its gorgeous 5.2-inch full 1080p HD display and Snapdragon 800 processor, LG has managed to cramp a heap ton of software features into the device, thanks to their own custom user interface.
While many of these features will no doubt go unnoticed, LG wants to make sure you know exactly what their latest flagship is capable of. To help educate the masses, LG has uploaded a quick product overview video, showing off some of the best features the LG G2 has to offer. While I may have initially been on the fence about picking up the device, this newest video definitely has me leaning a little more towards LG’s side of the fence.
With the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 soon to be announced, and rumored Nexus 4 refresh/Nexus 5 release coming later this year, anyone have their heart’s set on the LG G2?

I want to wait for the n4r/n5 to compare before getting the g2. the note 3 is too big for me haha about 5 in. is perfect for me. my contract just ended but I have to upgrade when my parents do so ill see what’s available and compare. but a sense 5 port for the HTC sensation is coming out soon so I’m in no rush to upgrade even though my power button broke

Still looking forward to the G2, its specs are pretty darn amazing but what honestly sold me was the 3,000 mAh battery in a similarly sized phone as the S4 and One.
Of course if the Note III launch rumors for soon-after September availability are true then I’ll take that instead, been wanting to go into phablet territory.. seems fun and the Note III is the way to go with its features, at least for me.
Well I know it’s not quite the same bc you lose NFC, but if you don’t think you’ll be using it much zerolemon makes a stock sized 3000mAh battery for the s4 and it’s dirt cheap on amazon too. $8.99 for one or $20 for two plus a battery charger. I’ve been tempted to give it a try. I normally only use NFC occasionally and mostlyjust when I go out on weekends
Zerolemon batteries usually have the NFC included don’t they?.
Also, I don’t want an S4.. I have an S3 and I really don’t warrant it as a worthwhile upgrade.
Or you could tape your S3 to the back of it and it would still be smaller than adding a zerolemon battery and you’d have dual screens and twice the battery life! Just carry a friggin personal charger. The S800 has 75% faster charging (than what, i dunno). Zerolemons are dumb. Put the phone down for a second! Just a second!
The specific battery he was talking about is the same size, in addition to that its not an issue of charging – its easier to have a larger battery than to carry my external battery.
The point is that the G2, for me, is a worthwhile upgrade compared to the S4 when coming from the S3.
I don’t understand what the remark about putting my phone down for a second is supposed to relate to, charging my phone or that I use it too much?
In either case I don’t use it nearly as often as it may seem, everyone wants a better battery, what’s wrong with that? I shouldn’t have to carry a charger or swap out a battery but its a price to pay till something more efficient comes along in another device.
It all depends on service strength and type of use too. I was just being silly with the put the phone down comment. I probably use mine more than you. It also seems that any battery other than OEM degrades much faster so I never recommend them.
I’ve been wanting a phablet for a while too. I’ve been slowly moving up. I had the E4GT (GS2)[4.5] and moved up to the HTC One (4.7). Next stop? Phablet.
I want to upgrade to the HTC One Max to stick with the same experience I’ve gotten myself accustomed to. But this video has swayed me. The HTC One Max better bring it, or I’m using my Tmo Jump on the LG G2.
I’m destined for that phone, though. Since the HTC G2 was my fav. phone. LoL!!

People go with the trends. Marketing is brainwashing. Most people dont care about phones like we do, they go about word of mouth and what’s cool and in. Alot of people got tired of iPhone and wanted something new, went Galaxy. Young kids are going Windows surprisingly. My nieces just got Windows 8 and were thrilled (they are 11-12yo).
well luckily, LG aint a small company and has the capabilities to match sammy sony htc. And it seems they learned a thing or two and is on the way up. Wait a min, isnt LG no2 tho in the mobile arena? share wise. lol
More on screen buttons….. they shouldn’t get away with calling it 5.2 if bout an inch of the screen is useless with buttons that could be on the frame… And am i the only one who thinks the volume rocker on the back serves no extra purpose??
While I can see where you’re coming from, they’re well within rights to advertise the screen size for what it is. The physical size of the screen does not necessarily directly correlate with the amount of user controlled screen real estate.
Well first you’re way off about the buttons taking up an inch of the screen. But even so, the screen IS 5.2 inches, so why should they not be able to advertise it as such? Without getting into a debate about whether on screen buttons are superior (they are), they can hide in certain apps and then you get the whole thing, so it counts.
I would much rather have more screen real-estate. Hiding the buttons feels like hiding the start bar on a Windows pc. Though it creates more screen space when needed, it feels awkward and not very functional. I was very disappointed with the nexus 4 screen size which is why I switched to the note 2. I may have exaggerated on the buttons being 1 inch but however big it is it does make a huge difference in user experience. Atleast for me it did.
My last 2 Android phones have had on-screen buttons, and I’ll never go back. they disappear when you watch videos automatically, plus you can install an app called Full!Screen that will move them to the corners….or use Pie navigation. Custom ROMS allow different arrangements or new functions.

And everything hides during a video… I meant during regular daily use like checking emails or sending a text.

It’s a 5.2 inch screen because you can still use that portion of the screen. If you want, hide the on-screen navigation buttons.
I, for one, welcome on-screen navigation buttons. They allow me to add a must needed button for me: the search button. I can also move the buttons around to my liking.
they don’t take up even a quarter of an inch. I didn’t want to use them at first either but after having a nexus for a few hours I completely converted. I won’t say on screen buttons are vastly superior but I don’t see it as a negative either.
I’m starting to feel like i’m the only one who really hates on screen buttons.
Having a Galaxy Nexus myself I first tough the onscreen buttons was a good idea, but since Google didn’t do anything revolutionary with dynamic buttons, 99% of the time they are just there wasting about 69 thousand pixels (96×720) and burning that OLED zone :(
Now if those buttons were per app configurable (always keeping the basic ones) that would have more functionality… Maybe Android 5.0 will use that screen area more efficiently and not as static buttons since first honeycomb onscreen buttons were introduced. If it’s to continue like it has been, I’ll give samsung the cake for not wasting screen space (just compare usefull screen space of GS3 with Galaxy Nexus – both are identical dimension phones, but usefull screen in S3 is way more)

Hmm… If the HTC One Max can’t compete, I’m sorry HTC, but this video has persuaded me.
It has done the same for me, but I learned that it’s ok to wait alittle while before jumping all over a particular item, HTC, and Sammy are revealing something soon, as well as Sony that has the Z1 comming out, I say wait a little while before making a decision this fall season, it’ll be worth it.
It will be bigger.

I was sold on this phone until they couldn’t announce a release date (as usual). And then the fact that wireless charging is a Verizon exclusive REALLY turned me off. That’s way worse than moto maker being an att exclusive, which sucks but is only temporary. You can’t just take a huge current feature like that and simply deny it to all but the customers of one carrier. I like LG but that is a very distasteful move on their part. So I bought an xperia z to hold me over until the new nexus.
Where did you see that the wireless charging is a Verizon Exclusive, link please? I have not seen that.
It is a Verizon exclusive. And I’m just like you, I’m tired of plugging and unplugging the USB to charge. I used the wireless charging orb on my nexus 4, and the official dock for my nexus 7. And I just can’t see going backwards like that.
Afaik its not a Verizon exclusive. Even the international version doesn’t have it. I think Verizon likes to have that option on most high end smart phones. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Fantastic hardware specs, however, one look at the LG notification pulldown should dissuade *anyone* from buying it. They butchered Android.

Depending on what Samsung unveils with the Note 3, it will determine whether it’s the G2 or N3. I can live with a small decrease in screen size.

Not much advertising, even in the stores. The cell phone stores are still promoting the S4 the most right now. I just picked up a new phone yesterday with SKT and they were telling me all about Samsung phones and when I asked if they had the G2 they acted like they were depressed having to even talk about it. Seems no one is a big fan of it yet and are not liking the button placement especially. I ended up just getting the S4 with LTE-A.

Let me think “back” to how LG has treats its customers as far as updates to their devices goes, and places their customers at the “back” of the line when it comes to timely roll out of those upgrades. Will have to “back” up and think real hard how it went, post after post on LG’s forum “back”s up my fears.
I don’t think any amazing specs of the phone can bring me “back” to LG.
If a GPE edition comes out, I’ll be all over it. Otherwise though…looks like a lot of bloat. The worst is their new multi-tasking. Why are they redoing multi-tasking, which is already implemented in a much better fashion in Android? Also, why allow you to customize the on-screen buttons but don’t give you recent apps as an option? Just not a fan of the customizations. Camera app looks bloated too.
bloated camera app or not im sure the quality of the photos are much better than stock.
Maybe…I’m using an S4 right now though and all the camera options just get in the way. My wife just got a Moto X and I like the direction they took. Actually simplified it, rather than complicating it. I also used to have a Nexus 4, and again…nice simple camera. With the S4 you start it up and hope you didn’t accidentally turn on a feature last time you used it. If you did, you spend 2 minutes figuring out how to turn it off. By the time you look up, what you were gonna take a picture of is gone. Plus, I never use any of that stuff anyway. It’s all gimicks for the most part. I just want to snap a photo and have it be good quality. Whoever can make that happen the quickest and easiest gets my vote.
I agree, and i dont mind a couple of features like slow motion video n other stuff, but image quality first. And my Nexus 4 definitely doesnt have that.

I’m starting to think that’s what it is I don’t know if I’m getting this phone or not but don’t hate the phone for a feature that you can just cut off with the click of one button.
Not hating. Point was simple. Love the hardware, but not the software.
Yes. I know the stock android multi-tasker is still present, and I hear you that you can shut off the other one. My point is, it’s still baked into their rom, along with a ton of other features I’d turn off (check out the hideous notification panel below). Enabled or not, it’s still bloat. You and others may not care so long as it’s turned off. However myself and others like me will care. It’s the same reason why even though I have everything turned off of TouchWiz on my S4 that I can possibly turn off, I’d much rather have the GPE rom running on it. It would just be much cleaner.
