OPPO N1 pictured in the wild, infograph provides details on rear touch controls
Electronics manufacturer OPPO is one of a few smartphone makers out of China who’s quality Android hardware has helped make a name for themselves in other parts of the world. You may remember when the OPPO Finder (at the time, the world’s thinnest smartphone) made headlines after it was demonstrated that the device’s construction was so solid, it was able to pound nails into a wood plank, while emerging from the onslaught completely unscathed.
At the tail end of last year, the OPPO Find 5 was not only announced for China, but the company later provided a carrier unlocked international model that was met with warm reviews. The Find 5 was one of those kitchen sink devices featuring just about every high-end spec at the time, including being one of the first devices to feature a 5-inch full 1080p IPS display. To this date, the Find 5’s display is one of the best I’ve ever laid eyes on, while the solid aluminum construction is still unmatched.
Now, OPPO is making the preparations on their next big device, with photos of their upcoming OPPO N1, leaking online. While we can’t tell much from these photos, it appears the N1’s display will take up a good portion of the device’s real estate, with only a small amount of bezel along the top and bottom of the device.
When it comes to standout features, OPPO is hoping to capture consumers attention with rear touch controls. Leaked in an infographic, the chart shows an N1 that can be fully operated without ever having to touch it’s display. From the looks of it, shortcuts to the camera and other apps can also be configured. The infographic mentions rear controls should help alleviate thumb fatigue, should swiping your display the old fashioned way prove too tiresome.
OPPO has already begun teasing the device in its own English landing page, with a countdown timer ticking down to September 23rd. With the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 announcing before then, we’ll have to wait and see if OPPO’s newest hardware can compete in the latest round of smartphone wars.
