It’s been a while since we last heard from ASUS and exactly what the Taiwanese manufacturer was planning on doing with the ASUS PadFone Infinity. Unveiled back during Mobile World Congress, the PadFone Infinity was ASUS’ latest convertible device that upped the ante from the previous ASUS PadFone 2 packing an all new sexy industrial design, upgrading both the resolution of the smartphone and tablet portion with a full HD 1080p display, and powering it with a Snapdragon 600 processor.
I’ve been dying to get my hands on one since then, but so far ASUS has been mum on US availability… and now we may know why. Some new leaks are painting a better picture on what caused the PadFone Infinity delay, with an updated version of the device said to launch with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 800 SoC.
Not only did @evleaks recently tip a new Padfone Infinity with this very same processor and micro SD card slot, but the Infinity A86 also popped up in a GFX benchmark rocking the 2.2GHz CPU and Android 4.2.2, and in AnTuTu scoring a 33900. What’s more is “The New PadFone Infinity” is being shown in a drop down menu on ASUS’ support site, all but confirming a new PadFone Infinity could be launching soon.
Of course, we still know nothing as far as availability, but we expect to learn more during IFA 2013 next month where many of tech’s juggernauts will meet to show off their latest wares. Who knows, maybe ASUS will make the device official before then (I’m literally foaming at the mouth).

If it was only a tablet, then sure. But because it’s a phone, things get complicated (with radio frequencies).
If ASUS can bring this to US with AT&T LTE compatibility, I’d jump on this in a heartbeat (and I’d have to think about it with only HSPA+).
I imported the current version of this and loved it, except for one thing – it only had Edge speeds on AT&T. If the rumors are true of this version coming to the states, I’ll snag it in a heartbeat and sell my iPad! :)
Looks like an iPhone 4s from the front and sides and an HTC One from the back.
If apple thinks the Galaxy series is infringing on their design, then they will have a field trip on this lol

Indeed Chris! I have Asus Transformers, Zen book and Nexus 7 love them! I hope this hits the U.S.
I guess I never understood this. For the same price you could have a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 7 and a Nexus 10 and still pocket $100. The PadPhone Infinity unlocked plus the dock is almost $950.
Because if you play by the rules and don’t use unauthorized tethering, it allows you to have both a phone and a tablet with only one data plan.
No you are wrong, padfone infinity is 700$ for 32G of memory 13mpx camera, radio, fullhd on the phone and the tablet.
Nexus devices are not even high end.
You obviously don’t remember about all the Transformer WiFi/GPS issues.
A Padfone coming to the US supporting all of AT&T + T-Mobile’s bands is the only thing that could tempt me away from the Nexus 5.

I’ve been waiting for a padfone device for what 3 years now? I pretty much gave up on them releasing a device for my network. Fingers crossed tho as I’d be first in line.
Still waiting for the Transformer Pad Infinity 2013 with WQHD :D
