Sony Xperia Z1 press release leaks, confirms many of the device’s specs

While Sony is prepping the stage for tomorrow’s Sony Xperia Z1 announcement, even more details on the upcoming flagship have leaked online. The boys at Xperia Blog managed to get their hands on the official press release providing us with, not only official press shots of the device, but confirms many of the device’s hardware specs as well.

While the official press release has since been taken down, we still know is that the Sony Xperia Z1 will come equipped with a 5-inch 1980×1080 resolution “Triluminous” HD display, Qualcomm’s all new Snapdragon 800 processor MSM8974 2.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage (with expandable micro SD card slot), and a beefy 3,000 mAh battery. All of this crammed into a device measuring 144x74x8.5mm, with a weigh of 170 grams.

As for the camera, many of the rumors we heard about previously seem to have been dead on. Sony’s packing the Xperia Z1 with a 20.7MP 1/2.3-inch Exymor RS CMOS sensor — providing for a 24mm wide angle lens with quick f2.0 processor. What good is all this imaging hardware without the software to back it up? Well, Sony also briefly mentions their suite of apps, things like Timeshift, AR effect, and more (which were also leaked previously).

Looks like there aren’t many surprises left in store for Sony’s Xperia Z1 unveiling tomorrow, but we’re excited to see some of their software improvements (if any), and more details on availability. Here’s to hoping US networks are more excited about this device than the previous model, which only launched on T-Mobile here in the states.
