Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition officially announced
Who said Samsung was only coming to IFA with a smart watch and a Note 3? The company has also unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. This tablet, like the Note 3, will house different chipsets depending on which market you get it in. Some will get the 2.3GHz quad-core chipset (likely Qualcomm-based), while others will get Samsung’s Octa-Core chipset that uses a set of 4 Cortex-A15 cores for heavy lifting, and another set of Cortex-A7 cores to do light and background processing.
The 10.1-inch “Super Clear LCD” display pushes out 2560 X 1600 pixels, giving folks a “retinal” viewing experience. It’ll also enjoy 3GB of RAM, and between 16GB and 64GB of internal storage (which we imagine will all come in at different price points). There’s also a microSD card slot for your expandable storage needs.
Coming in both LTE and WiFi-only models, the Note 10.1 2014 Edition will launch with Android 4.3 and Samsung’s S-Pen heavy user experience, including new additions such as Screen Write, S Finder, Action Memo and Scrapbook. They’ve also improved the multi-window feature, giving folks the ability to run separate instances of the same app at the same time.
You can also use the S Pen to move content from one app to another, and you can even draw out how big you want a particular app’s window to be before loading it up in that pane. All good stuff from the looks of it.
Ghastly-looking home button aside, the Note 10.1 2014 is probably the most exciting to have been announced this year, though we’ll see if that excitement will still be around once Samsung eventually announces the price tag. The device will be available starting Q3 2013.
