We already gave you the announcement post, but now it’s time to give you guys some hands-on time with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Our own Rob Jackson is in New York’s Time Square at one of Samsung’s satellite events where he was able to get up close and personal with the all new Note 3.

In the video, Rob goes over the entirety of the device, walking you through the changes in aesthetics and talks about the leather backing giving the Note a premium feel unlike any other. He mistakenly mentions a Xenon-flash which was long rumored, but in the end Samsung opted for the traditional LED flash. While Rob didn’t have much time to dive into all the software features, we’ll be getting our own review unit and will be sure to put the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 through its paces. Check out the hands-on video below.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

What’s the best Android phone to buy as of September 2013?

  1. ” I believe that’s a Xenon flash”. Come on man!! Really?

  2. Just awesome.

Now thats a very very nice looking device.

Wondering if the back can come in black or brown as well as white?
One of the classiest add looks I have seen.

    1. The back battery covers are completely replaceable, so I imagine we’ll have tons of choice in colors & textures (ahem – non-faux-leather), especially from 3rd parties.

      1. Here’s hoping. I don’t see why everyone is calling fake(or real, for that matter) leather “premium”

        1. Leather feels more premium than aluminum in my opinion.

          1. In mine, it looks tacky

  3. Any word how the Note3 is taking advantage of it’s new wider microUSB 3.0 port? I know it’s faster (but I use AirDroid anyway), but how about charging speed?

    1. USB3.0 spec is capable of delivering 25 watts max. If the note 3 can handle it, the battery could be fully charged in less than 1 hour.

I don’t see anything about wireless charging, maybe this is why.

  4. Almmooooooost

  5. Waiting for what HTC Max brings in?!?!

  6. and of course, Nexus 5

  7. Is the wifi dual band?

    1. Most likely it is right? Is it not for the Note 2!?

      1. for the note 2 it is not.

  8. Is the rear speaker improved?

    1. what do you mean improved? it sounds fine to me. was something wrong?

      1. There’s nothing wrong with it, but there’s always room for improvement.

  9. Where is the finger print scanner?

  10. Where is the finger print scanner?!

  11. Lets hope it doesn’t have a locked bootloader!

    1. Oh… it won’t… on T-Mobile! Cheap plans! No contracts! No locked bootloaders! BOOM!

  12. Does anyone know if the screen is still pentile? I know its not as big of a deal being that its in 1080p but I still would like to know.

    1. Yes, I read that it is still pentile

      1. Oh ok thanks.

    2. the Note 2 isn’t pentile, so I think it’d be safe to assume this is not either.

      1. Yeah, I know the note 2 isn’t just wanted confirmation that the note 3 is or isn’t.

  13. I just read the wifi is 802.11AC for the Note 3 so it will FLY with the right kind of at home WiFi network. I hope this is affordable because it looks like the complete creme de la creme.

    1. I’m guessing $300 on contract at Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon and $200 with T-Mobile’s plan. And I don’t even wanna think about the off-contract price… Good thing I’m due for an upgrade!

    2. Right, because N wasn’t fast enough for your handheld device? :)

  14. im not impressed by noting samsung showed today. im waiting for the HTC ONE MAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    1. What are you 12?

      1. Hey come on now, he’s 14.

        1. Top lel.

  15. Now that Samsung has got their name out there like Apple did all they are doing is taking their designs, tweaking them, and calling it the new model. Sony is totally stealing the spotlight with their Z Ultra and Z1!!

    1. They aren’t.

  16. I wonder how many cows had to die to make samsungs back covers. i really don’t care that it’s leather, just curious how many cow hides it takes to fulfill samsung’s initial stock lol

Edit: I’d like to add that the only update the Note 2 has seen is a security patch to the processor. Feeling really ripped off right now!

    1. You do realize that it is “leather-like” not real leather, right???
There’s multiple upgrades from the Note 2.
The Note 2 is still a great phone, but the timing of this revision is something most folks expected. So feeling like you’ve been ripped off is based on what?

  17. Have they made any attempts to slim down NatureUX as HTC has done with Sense?
